Gold price today June 6: Increased to 118 million VND

On the morning of June 6, the world gold price was trading around 3,360 USD/ounce, down 20 USD compared to yesterday. Converted according to Vietcombank exchange rate, the world gold price is equivalent to 106.3 million VND/tael (excluding taxes and fees).

Domestically, the price of gold bars at Saigon Jewelry Company - SJC was bought at 116 million VND, sold at 118 million VND, an increase of 600,000 VND in buying and 300,000 VND in selling compared to yesterday. The increase in buying price was greater, so the difference in buying and selling price of SJC gold bars was reduced to 2 million VND/tael. Compared to the world, each tael of SJC gold bar is 11.7 million VND more expensive.

Similarly, SJC Company increased the price of 4-number-9 gold rings by 300,000 VND when buying to 111 million VND, and sold at 114.3 million VND.

World gold prices turned lower after President Donald Trump said he and Chinese President Xi Jinping agreed to continue negotiations to resolve trade disputes. He announced on social media that the negotiations had led to a “very positive conclusion”. At the same time, trade negotiation teams from the two countries will meet again soon. This eased investors’ concerns about escalating tensions between the US and China, thereby pushing gold prices down.

In contrast, the US stock market plunged. At the end of the trading session on June 5 (early morning of June 6, Vietnam time), the S&P 500 index fell 0.53% to 5,939.30 points, the Nasdaq Composite index lost 0.83% to 19,298.45 points and the Dow Jones fell 108 points (equivalent to 0.25%) to 42,319.74 points. Tesla was the stock that fell the most in the session, falling more than 14% and losing its trillion-dollar market capitalization position. This stock plunged after US President Donald Trump said he was "very disappointed" in CEO Elon Musk. Mr. Musk responded, saying in a post on X that "if it weren't for me, Mr. Trump would have lost the election".../.
