SJC gold bar and gold ring prices skyrocket

At the time of survey at 2:00 p.m. on October 21, 2024, the domestic gold price was listed as follows:

SJC gold price was simultaneously increased by SJC, PNJ and DOJI Group to 86 million VND/tael for buying and 88 million VND/tael for selling – an increase of 2 million VND for both buying and selling compared to the end of last week.

The selling price of SJC gold at four state-owned commercial banks (Agribank, BIDV, Vietcombank and Vietinbank) also increased by VND2 million/tael, to VND88 million/tael.

The price of 9999 gold rings was also adjusted up by businesses. SJC Company traded 9999 gold rings at 84.7 million VND/tael for buying and 86 million VND/tael for selling, an increase of 870,000 VND for both buying and selling compared to the end of last week.

PNJ gold rings in Ho Chi Minh City and PNJ gold in Hanoi: 85.4 million VND/tael for buying (increased 700,000 VND/tael compared to yesterday), 86.39 million VND/tael for selling (increased 690,000 VND/tael compared to yesterday).

In the world gold market, the spot gold price on the Kitco floor at noon on October 21 (Vietnam time) increased to 2,727.6 USD/ounce, up nearly 8 USD/ounce compared to the closing price of the previous weekend in New York. Thus, the world gold price has set a new peak. This price after conversion is equivalent to 83.4 million VND/tael, lower than SJC gold by about 4.6 million VND/tael, compared to last weekend, only about 2.8 million VND/tael and lower than 9999 ring gold at 2.2 million VND/tael compared to last weekend by about 2.0-2.3 million VND/tael.

According to Kitco News' survey of gold price forecasts this week, the majority of experts believe that gold will continue to increase due to factors such as geopolitical tensions and economic instability.

In the Kitco News survey, 94% of experts believe that gold prices will continue to rise next week, while only 6% are neutral. For retail investors, 72% expect prices to rise, with driving factors including political instability in the Middle East, the BRICS summit, and the US political situation.

The world gold price continuously sets new records, causing investors and central banks around the world to seek gold as a safe haven asset in the face of increasing geopolitical and economic instability in the world.

Gold now accounts for 10 percent of central bank reserves, up from 3 percent a decade ago, according to a report by the US central bank. Experts say that the demand for gold has increased since the Federal Reserve (FED) began its interest rate cutting easing cycle last month. This is the most important driver of gold prices. The recent interest rate cuts have attracted investors in the West back to the gold market.
