Nghe An provincial leaders work with the Korean Federation of Small and Medium Enterprises

Within the framework of the Local Promotion Program in Korea co-organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam, on the morning of September 18, the Nghe An province delegation led by Mr. Phung Thanh Vinh - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee had a working session with the Korean Federation of Small and Medium Enterprises (KBIZ).

Attending the meeting were representatives of the Vietnamese Embassy in Korea and leaders of Nghe An , Quang Tri and Tay Ninh provinces.

KBIZ is an organization representing the interests of small and medium enterprises, supporting policy development, business environment, market connection, export support, training, experience and technology transfer, promoting participation in the global supply chain. Currently, KBIZ has more than 10,000 member enterprises operating in Vietnam. KBIZ has implemented many cooperation activities, organized many conference and seminar programs to support and connect businesses on both sides, and between businesses and the government.

Speaking at the conference, Comrade Phung Thanh Vinh emphasized: Nghe An - the hometown of President Ho Chi Minh is a province with a strategic position in the North Central region, possessing a synchronous transport infrastructure system, convenient for connecting with other countries and internationally. With more than 23 FDI projects of Korea operating effectively and two-way trade turnover reaching nearly 590 million USD in 2024, Korea is currently one of the leading important partners of Nghe An.

The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee affirmed that Nghe An is ready to cooperate with KBIZ in three key areas: Attracting investment in industrial parks and key economic zones such as Dong Nam and VSIP, WHA, Hoang Thinh Dat industrial parks in the fields of supporting industries, electronics, mechanics, agricultural and aquatic product processing, green technology. The province has many policies to encourage trade expansion, bringing agricultural products, aquatic products and Nghe An handicrafts to the Korean market and promoting tourism, supporting promotion and connecting tours between Korea and Nghe An. Comrade Phung Thanh Vinh expressed his hope that KBIZ will pay attention to researching and implementing investment connection activities between Korean enterprises and Nghe An.

Nghe An province is committed to accompanying Korean enterprises according to the motto "5 readiness": readiness in planning, infrastructure, land, human resources and administrative procedures, to create the most favorable investment environment for the Korean small and medium-sized enterprise community when coming to Nghe An.

Mr. Choo Moon-gap - Head of KBIZ Economic Policy Department, highly appreciated the potential and advantages of Nghe An province, especially in the fields of supporting industry, electronics, green technology and human resource training. Currently, Korea is shifting its investment to Vietnam. He affirmed that KBIZ will play an important role, promoting more and more Korean enterprises to be interested in and explore investment and business opportunities in Vietnam in general and Nghe An in particular.

Previously, on the afternoon of September 17, the Nghe An Provincial Delegation attended the Vietnam - Korea Local Cooperation Forum on Investment Promotion and Trade Connection, hosted by the Vietnam - Korea Business and Investment Association (VKBIA).

In his welcoming speech, the Chairman of the Goyang City Council highly appreciated the potential for cooperation with the localities of Nghe An, Quang Tri and Tay Ninh. Goyang is not only a high-tech industrial center, but is also famous for the largest flower festival in Korea and advanced agriculture, and is ready to cooperate with Vietnamese localities.

VKBIA Chairman Tran Hai Linh affirmed that the forum is one of the activities to connect and promote cooperation between Vietnamese and Korean localities, contributing to the implementation of commitments and determination of the two countries' senior leaders, and believes that localities will have many effective cooperation activities in the fields of high technology, agriculture and labor. Today's forum is a starting point, in the coming time, localities need to continue to exchange information, organize working groups to conduct field surveys and build specific cooperation programs.

Also at the forum, the Nghe An Provincial Department of Foreign Affairs signed a cooperation agreement with VKBIA. According to the signed content, the two sides agreed to coordinate to promote trade and investment promotion activities; support Nghe An enterprises and Korean enterprises to access the market, take advantage of opportunities from the Vietnam - Korea Free Trade Agreement (VKFTA). At the same time, organize conferences, seminars, talks, market surveys, share experiences and legal information, to improve the investment and business environment./.
