Gold prices heat up following trade war

Compared to yesterday morning, the world gold price has increased by 88 USD/ounce (2.74 million VND/tael).

Compared to the evening of April 7, when the world gold price fell to 2,983 USD/ounce, the world gold price has now increased to 237 USD/ounce, equivalent to 7.4 million VND/tael.

At 9:30, the world gold price was at 3,220.3 USD/ounce. Converted according to the exchange rate listed at the bank, the world gold price is equivalent to 100.36 million VND/tael.

The world gold price has increased rapidly in the context of the increasingly tense tariff war, especially the trade war between the US and China - the world's second largest economy and the second largest supplier of US imports. However, US President Donald Trump believes that he will reach a tax agreement with Beijing.

Currently, the US tariff rate on China is 145%, not 125%.

The world gold price has increased sharply after this information. Since the beginning of the year, the world gold price has increased by 620 USD/ounce (23.85%), equivalent to 19.3 million VND/tael. The domestic gold price has also increased by 21.3 million VND/tael, from 85 million VND/tael to 106.4 million VND/tael.

Gold price has increased by 6.3 million VND/tael since the beginning of the week.

On the same morning, SJC Company listed the price of SJC gold bars at 106.4 million VND/tael (selling price), while the buying price was 103.4 million VND/tael. Compared to yesterday, the price of SJC gold bars increased by 2.5 million VND/tael in both buying and selling prices.

Notably, the difference between buying and selling prices of gold remains very high: 3 million VND/tael. Meanwhile, the selling price of 9999 gold rings at SJC Company is 1 million VND/tael lower than the price of gold bars, at 105.4 million VND/tael (selling) and 102.4 million VND/tael (buying).

This is also a notable development because previously the selling price of gold bars and gold rings at SJC Company was the same, however from the beginning of next week, the selling price and buying price of gold bars have continuously increased the gap.

At PNJ Company, the selling price of SJC gold bars also increased to 106.4 million VND/tael, buying at 103 million VND/tael. However, the selling price of 9999 gold rings is 1.3 million VND/tael lower than the price of SJC gold bars, at 105.1 million VND/tael, buying at 101.9 million VND/tael.

Bao Tin Minh Chau Company increased the selling price of 9999 gold rings by 2.4 million VND/tael, to 106.4 million VND/tael, and the buying price increased to 102.5 million VND/tael.

Compared to the converted world gold price, the domestic gold price is about 6.04 million VND/tael higher.
