Currently, farmers in the districts of Dong Thap Muoi in Long An province are tending to switch from rice to growing fruit trees with high economic value. Accordingly, Thanh Hoa district in Dong Thap Muoi region, recently, in addition to rice, local farmers have switched to growing some other fruit trees such as jackfruit, lemon, durian, grapefruit, ... mainly concentrated in some communes such as Thuan Binh, Tan Hiep, Thanh Phuoc.

Although the economic efficiency of fruit trees for farmers is higher than that of rice, technically, farmers still face many obstacles in the cultivation process due to acid sulfate soil conditions and saline intrusion, which have greatly affected the production situation.

Participating in the workshop, farmers were informed by the former Head of the Faculty of Agriculture , Can Tho University - Professor, Doctor, Meritorious Teacher Nguyen Bao Ve about technical solutions to improve the efficiency of fruit tree cultivation on acid sulfate soil.

Also at the workshop, farmers and experts in the field of agriculture exchanged, discussed, and answered questions about plant diseases and effective techniques for growing plants on acid sulfate soil.
