VHO - After many days of exciting competition, the 2025 Ho Chi Minh City Teqball Championship has just ended at District 6 Gymnasium (Ho Chi Minh City) after breathtaking and exciting final matches.

The 2025 Ho Chi Minh City Teqball Championship took place continuously from June 23 to 28, attracting the participation of more than 100 athletes from 12 units in the city.

The Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Ho Chi Minh City has assigned Hoa Lu Sports Center to host the event, with the support of District 6 Culture and Sports Center, and other units such as Saigon Sports Company Limited, Dafanews, etc.

Athletes compete in 7 events, through the tournament the organizers will select the core force to form a team to prepare for the 33rd SEA Games in late 2025 in Thailand. Teqball is one of the new sports that will be included in the competition program at this arena.

At the end of the exciting matches, the organizing committee awarded the overall title to District 5 with 4 gold medals and 3 silver medals; District 7 ranked second with 2 gold medals, 1 silver medal and 3 bronze medals; District 1 ranked third overall with 1 gold medal, 2 silver medals and 2 bronze medals.

The matches were exciting and dramatic.

Teqball is a new sport introduced to Vietnam, combining football, sepak takraw and table tennis, played on a characteristic curved table.

Ho Chi Minh City is a locality that develops Teqball, attracting a large number of participants. This sport creates great attraction thanks to its beautiful techniques, high entertainment value, intense confrontations, etc.

The organizers said that this year's tournament was exciting, high quality and had the participation of many units in Ho Chi Minh City.

That shows the vitality and great spread of this sport, although it was introduced to the locality not long ago.

After this year's tournament, the locality will establish a Teqball team of 10 athletes, including 5 men and 5 women, along with 3 coaches to send to Hungary for training.

The team is expected to train for more than 20 days and will receive active professional support from international experts. This will be the core force of the Vietnamese Teqball team preparing for the 33rd SEA Games in Thailand.

Teqball is one of the new sports introduced into the SEA Games competition program. With careful preparation from now, Vietnam Teqball promises to compete fairly with other countries in the region, to compete for medals.

Previously, Ho Chi Minh City hosted the 2024 Teqball World Championship from December 4 to 8, 2024, attracting 221 athletes from 95 countries and territories around the world, with a total of 301 matches.

This is the largest Teqball tournament ever, in the 10th year this sport has officially been born and created a strong influence in the world.

With the great development potential of Teqball, including the possibility of the sport being included in the Olympic competition program, from mid-2024, the Ho Chi Minh City sports industry has conducted a survey and learned experience in Hungary and Spain, where the Teqball movement is the most developed in the world.

Teqball was only born in 2014 but is considered the fastest growing sport in the world, present in more than 140 countries and territories, and recognized by many Olympic Committees of many continents.
