Sharing at an event held in Ho Chi Minh City recently, Mr. Adrian Hia, Managing Director of Asia- Pacific (APAC) of Kaspersky, said that the company has discovered 3 security holes on the iPhone that even Apple itself did not know about and hackers have taken advantage of those holes to penetrate the device.
Specifically, Kaspersky has discovered a Zero Malware attack on the iPhone. Accordingly, hackers will successfully send iMessage messages to the iPhone and then automatically delete them without the user reading them. After that, they proceed to take full control of the phone. This is one of the very new and sophisticated threats that this security company has discovered.
In case the iPhone user is attacked, the device's network connection will be unstable and at this time the hacker will proceed to exploit information such as images, videos , voice recording features, file searches... and many other operations.
The security vulnerability on the iPhone was discovered by the Kaspersky Anti Targeted Attack Platform (KATA) and Kaspersky Unified Monitoring and Analysis Platform (KUMA). Kaspersky representatives said they had reported it to Apple and informed authorities such as the government, cybersecurity organizations, etc. so that the company could quickly patch the vulnerability to prevent the attack from spreading further.
“iPhone is not as secure as we think, even though it has a closed operating system, so users still need to equip their phones with a layer of protection to prevent attacks from outside,” said Adrian Hia.
