The 12th ASEAN Para Games concluded on the evening of June 9. The Vietnamese Paralympic delegation ranked third overall with 66 gold medals, 58 silver medals and 77 bronze medals. The Indonesian delegation came in first with 159 gold medals and Thailand came in second with 126 gold medals. Laos was the only delegation that did not win any gold medals.
The Vietnamese disabled sports delegation exceeded the initial target of winning 50 to 55 gold medals, and ranked in the top 4 on the medal table.
Compared to the 11th ASEAN Para Games, the Vietnamese disabled sports delegation gained 1 more gold medal. This is also the best achievement in the ASEAN Para Games not held on home soil.

The 66 gold medals of the Vietnamese delegation were in 4 sports: swimming, athletics, weightlifting, and chess. Of these, swimming and athletics contributed the most medals with 28 and 20 medals respectively.
Athlete Danh Hoa made the most impression with his 6 gold medals in swimming. In addition, swimmer Trinh Thi Bich Nhu won 5 gold medals and set 3 records. Track and field veteran Trinh Cong Luan (51 years old) won 2 gold medals and 1 bronze medal (javelin throw).
Some sports also achieved good results such as table tennis (2 silver medals, 12 bronze medals), badminton (1 silver medal, 1 bronze medal), boccia (1 silver medal), judo (4 bronze medals).
The closing ceremony of the 12th ASEAN Para Games took place tonight, June 9, at Morodok Techo Stadium (Phom Penh, Cambodia).
