Le Van Cong excellently won 2 gold medals at ASEAN Para Games

On the afternoon of June 4, in the men's weightlifting category under 49 kg, athlete Le Van Cong excellently won the gold medal. Accordingly, Van Cong successfully lifted 3 weights of 162 kg, 166 kg and 168 kg to achieve the highest result.

Besides the gold medal for the highest weight (168 kg), Le Van Cong also won a gold medal in the total lift with a result of 496 kg.

Behind Le Van Cong is Indonesian athlete Hadi. Hadi successfully lifted 160 kg, 163 kg and 166 kg.

Nguyen Van Cong won 2 gold medals in weightlifting in the men's under 49 kg category.

Le Van Cong was the world champion in 2016 with a weight of 183 kg.

At the 2016 Paralympics in Brazil, Le Van Cong became the first disabled athlete from Vietnam to win a gold medal. He successfully lifted 183 kg and holds the world record. At the 2020 Tokyo Paralympics, Van Cong won a silver medal with a lift of 173 kg (equal to his opponent but finished second due to weight).

Previously, also on the competition day of June 4, the weightlifting team of the Vietnamese disabled sports delegation had 2 gold medals from Dang Thi Linh Phuong. In the under 50 kg weight class for women, Linh Phuong successfully lifted 3 weights of 91 kg, 93 kg and 95 kg. In the 4th lift, the Vietnamese female athlete broke the Games record when successfully lifting 102 kg.
