Vietnam - Malaysia: Expanding digital cooperation programs

On May 27, 2025, within the framework of the Prime Minister's official visit to Malaysia and participation in the ASEAN Summit, Vietnamese Minister of Science and Technology Nguyen Manh Hung and Malaysian Minister of Digital Development YB Gobind Singh Deo had a bilateral working session to expand digital cooperation programs between the two countries.

At the meeting, the two sides discussed policies and plans for digital infrastructure development, 5G network deployment, institutional building for AI development and application, strengthening the implementation of cooperation projects within the ASEAN framework on digital transformation and digital economy , capacity building and digital skills training.

To expand bilateral cooperation programs, the two Ministers agreed to strengthen the implementation of connection activities, support organizations and businesses of both sides to cooperate through working groups, seminars and annual digital forums. In particular, the two sides agreed to jointly develop and sign a Memorandum of Understanding on digital cooperation to create a foundation for expanding specific projects between the two ministries in the coming time.

On this occasion, Minister Nguyen Manh Hung announced and invited Minister YB Gobind Singh Deo to attend the International Digital Week and ASEAN Digital Ministers Meeting (ADGMIN) hosted by Vietnam in January 2026./.
