Teacher and principal clash at November 20th party: Latest information

According to a report from the Lao Cai Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department, the scuffle between the principal and teachers occurred during a November 20th party at a restaurant in Tram Tau commune.

On the morning of November 24, the Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department of Lao Cai Provincial Party Committee provided initial information on the scuffle between a teacher and the principal of Tram Tau Ethnic Boarding Primary and Secondary School, during the celebration of Vietnamese Teachers' Day, November 20.

On November 19, after attending the November 20th celebration, the staff and teachers had a party at a restaurant. At 8:00 p.m., principal Nguyen Van Thanh and teacher Ngo Ngoc Nam got into a fight. At this time, both were drinking alcohol, leading to a conflict.

At 10:45 a.m. on November 23, a Facebook account named “Ngo Nam” posted the following information: “The principal of Tram Tau Ethnic Boarding Primary and Secondary School, Tram Tau Commune, Lao Cai Province, got drunk and beat a colleague at the same school, causing injuries that required hospitalization.” This information attracted many social media accounts to share and comment.

The Party Secretary and Chairman of the People's Committee of Tram Tau commune directly worked with Mr. Nguyen Van Thanh, confirmed the incident and assigned the task to the relevant agencies to clarify. The Standing Committee of the Party Committee of the commune requested the Chief of the Tram Tau Commune Police to investigate, determine the level of violation, if any, and at the same time advise on how to handle the individuals involved.

The Chairman of the Party Committee's Inspection Commission shall, based on the report of the Tram Tau Commune Police, advise the Standing Committee and the Standing Committee of the Commune Party Committee on how to handle violations (if any) according to regulations. The Chairman of the Commune People's Committee shall direct the handling of violating officials according to the provisions of the Law on Civil Servants and related legal provisions.

The incident is being investigated by the authorities.

Previously, social media spread information about the incident in which a teacher at Tram Tau Ethnic Boarding School accused the school principal of being drunk and beating him and sending him to the hospital. The image of the teacher with many injuries on his face and a medical certificate for his hospitalization immediately caused a stir on social media.

Some Facebook accounts claiming to be teachers hope that authorities will soon intervene and clarify the cause of the fight to avoid negative impacts on the educational environment.
