Driver's license authenticated on VNeID app is recognized as valid document

The Ministry of Public Security said that Circular No. 05/2024/TT-BGTVT of the Ministry of Transport amending and supplementing a number of articles of Circulars related to the field of road transport, road transport support services, vehicles and drivers has just officially taken effect from June 1, 2024.

According to this circular, a valid driving license is a license issued by a competent authority, using PET material. The driving license is printed with information such as the blank number, date of issue and expiration date, which matches the information stored in the driving license management system.

Driver's license information verified on the VNeID application will also be recognized as valid documents. This means that people can present their driver's license on VNeID instead of a hard copy when participating in traffic to avoid being fined. People can still use the hard copy driver's license issued by the competent authority to present when requested by the competent authority.

The Circular also stipulates 6 cases of driver's license revocation at Point b, Clause 24, Article 4, including: Drivers who commit fraudulent acts to obtain a driver's license; drivers who erase, delete, or falsify information on the driver's license; allow others to use their driver's license; competent authorities issue it to unqualified persons; there is an error in one of the following information: full name, date of birth, nationality, place of residence, driver's license class, issuance value, date of passing, signatory; through health examination, competent authorities determine that the driver's body contains drugs (except for the handling acts prescribed at Point c and Point d, Clause 10, Article 5; Point h and Point i, Clause 8, Article 6 of Decree No. 100/2019/ND-CP dated December 30, 2019).
