George's Dining Room and Bar, located in Greater Manchester, was opened by Giggs in 2014 with his two close friends from high school, Kelvin Gregory and Bernie Taylor. After a period of operation, the upscale dining establishment went bankrupt with total debts amounting to £563,600.

According to newly released documents, restaurant operator RKB Ventures Ltd owes employees £28,302 in wages, £8,114 to wine supplier Boulinot Wines, £755 to a local tea shop, and £318 to sausage supplier Grandads Sausages.

The restaurant owes £75,616 in taxes and has a bank loan of £44,095. The Manchester United legend personally lost nearly £100,000 in investment.

On March 7th, the company founded by Giggs and his friend was officially liquidated. Prior to that, on January 31st, a notice posted outside the restaurant stated that it was "closed for the weekend due to unforeseen circumstances," and it never reopened.

The staff received a message: "We regret to inform you that, with heavy hearts, we have no choice but to close George's immediately." The reason given was a drastic drop in customer numbers while operating costs soared, coupled with the cost of living crisis.

Employees were promised they would receive their outstanding wages, upfront payments, and severance pay if they were eligible. One person shared: “Everything happened so suddenly. Everyone was getting ready to go to work when they received a message saying the store was closing; everyone was shocked.”

Meanwhile, customers have been complaining en masse on social media about unused gift vouchers. A restaurant representative reassured them: “We are in the process of refunding all unused vouchers.
