On May 29, Plekhanov Russian University of Economics (PREU) in collaboration with the school's Vietnamese Student Association organized the first Vietnam Day at this prestigious economic school in Russia.
Vietnam Day at PREU consists of 3 parts, the first part of which aims to introduce Vietnam's diverse culture and cuisine through an exhibition of Vietnamese paintings and artworks, along with folk games such as bamboo dancing, chopstick picking, folk painting printing, and quizzes on Vietnam's history and traditions.
This event attracted a large number of lecturers and students from PREU as well as from other schools.
Ms. Olga, a math teacher at PREU, expressed her interest in the paper printing class and enjoyed the games and Vietnamese food.
Dasha, a Vietnamese language student at the Institute of Asian and African Countries of Lomonosov Moscow State University (MGU), said she really enjoyed this event because Vietnamese friends had prepared a lot of things and there were many strange and interesting things on Vietnam Day this time.
The second part, also considered the main part of the event, was a plenary session with the participation of representatives of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, scientists and businesses of the two countries, the Vietnamese Embassy in Russia, the Association of Vietnamese people in Russia, teachers and students of the school to discuss the topic "Russia-Vietnam relations in the new political context."
Speaking at the event, PREU Rector Ivan Lobanov expressed that the organization of Vietnam Day not only contributes to strengthening the relationship between the two countries but also affirms the close relationship in education and training between Russia and Vietnam.
Rector Lobanov also expressed his willingness to cooperate with Vietnam in urgent economic fields such as digital economy or green economy as well as promote exchanges and cooperation between scholars of the two countries.
The report by scholars and experts has provided a panoramic picture of the current relationship between Vietnam and Russia, from the assistance from the former Soviet Union in our people's struggle for independence and national reunification to the current challenges and advantages to promote and strengthen relations between the two countries.
At the meeting, a cooperation agreement signing ceremony was also held between PREU and RV-Exim Solutions Company Limited in the field of student training.
Tran Duc Tung, interim President of the Vietnamese Student Association at PREU, said the program aims to create opportunities for students to participate in a seminar focusing on bilateral relations in general as well as issues related to trade and economic cooperation so that they can visualize the development between Vietnam and the Russian Federation up to now, as well as development directions in the future.
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Vietnam to the Russian Federation Dang Minh Khoi also sent a letter to Principal Lobanov to congratulate the event.
In the letter, Ambassador Dang Minh Khoi affirmed that this meaningful event is not only for PREU lecturers and students but also for the entire Russian-Vietnamese community.
The Ambassador also said that PREU, a school with a tradition in relations with Vietnam, has been playing a special role in strengthening the relationship between the two countries in education and training, promoting mutual understanding as well as developing the economy and academic potential between the two countries.
The final part was the art program “Imprint of the Times” with special dance and singing performances praising the homeland and the beauty of the country performed by Vietnamese and Russian students at PREU.
With about 400 Vietnamese students studying and researching, PREU is currently the Russian university with the largest number of Vietnamese students./.
