Amidst the hustle and bustle of modern life, the longhouses, the sounds of gongs, and the traditional crafts of the local people, preserved for so many years, are clear evidence of the tireless efforts of this community.
Village chief Yông H Blong Mlô and Mr. Y Bliăng Niê, respected figures, are exemplary leaders who tirelessly promote and encourage people to preserve the beautiful cultural values of their ethnic group, preventing the erosion of traditional cultural identity due to the impacts of urbanization.

A highlight that makes the villagers of Yông village proud is the continued maintenance of their traditional gong ensemble. They perform not only within the village and commune during festivals but also in many places both within and outside the province. Mr. Y Bliăng Niê, a core member of the gong ensemble, shared: “Preservation isn't just about words. I myself play the gongs so that my children and grandchildren can see and hear them. When the elders are still in the gong ensemble, the younger generation can truly understand the sound of the gongs. When the elders explain the beauty and richness of our ethnic culture, the younger generation will see the core values and cherish and preserve them.”
The village of Yông not only maintains the effective operation of its gong ensemble but also boasts many people who can sing Ayray songs proficiently. Many families still preserve and craft traditional musical instruments such as the đinh năm, cồng, bro, etc., and keep them in the most prominent place in their homes. In addition, women in the village actively maintain the traditional brocade weaving craft with unique patterns. The craft of basket weaving is also passed down to the younger generation to prevent its decline, helping them create items for daily life.

Notably, in an effort to preserve their culture, the people of Yông village still maintain traditional longhouses. Mr. Y Ngọc Niê's family owns one of these original traditional longhouses. Despite numerous offers to buy it, Mr. Y Ngọc resolutely refuses. "This house was left to us by our ancestors; it's where the soul of our people is preserved. This is a cultural heritage passed down from our forefathers, and it cannot be exchanged for money," Mr. Y Ngọc asserted.
His unwavering resolve was partly strengthened by the encouragement and explanations of the importance of the longhouse to the community's identity from the Self-Governing Committee, respected figures in the village, including Mr. Y Bliăng Niê.
Thanks to the unity of the people, the efforts of the local government, and the role of influential figures, the Yông village has achieved important criteria in preserving the traditional culture of the ethnic group. Ms. H. Lum Niê, Head of the Culture and Social Affairs Department of Cuôr Đăng commune, said that influential figures in the commune play an active role in disseminating information and supporting people in promoting the values and identity of their ethnic culture and spreading it throughout the community. As a result, Cuôr Đăng commune has not only preserved valuable tangible and intangible cultural values but also promoted the building of a new, more civilized and progressive cultural life in the villages.
