Determined to protect forests from "fire"

In the early days of this hot season, officers and employees of the Southern Ha Tinh Forest Protection Management Board are "stretching themselves" to carry out the task of protecting forests from the risk of fire. Officers in the groups, teams, and forest protection stations have all raised the level of forest fire prevention and fighting (PCCCR), increased forest fire patrols at the base, closely followed fire-prone forest areas, and fully prepared the "4 on-site" in the spirit of "prevention is the main thing", "timely fighting must be done"... Thereby, minimizing forest damage caused by fire, keeping the green color for 20,179 hectares of forest and forestry land assigned for management and protection.

Staff of the Southern Ha Tinh Protective Forest Management Board deployed a plan to clear and expand firebreaks to improve fire prevention and control efficiency in the new hot season.

Like previous years, this year's hot season, the Management Board of Southern Ha Tinh Protective Forests identified forest areas at high risk of fire to have effective prevention and treatment plans, focusing on forest areas along Highway 12 in Ky Son, Ky Thuong, Ky Lac communes and forest areas near residential areas or bordering other forest owners.

With the determination to prevent forest fires, the Management Board of Southern Ha Tinh Protective Forest has stepped up information, propaganda, mobilization, and signing of commitments to raise awareness and responsibility among staff in the unit, contracted households, and local people. This forest owner is also increasing the frequency of patrols, inspections, and heat source control (since the beginning of the year, teams and groups have organized 260 trips, coordinated 81 trips), rectifying unsafe conditions, and promptly detecting fires as soon as they start. The Management Board has also allocated nearly 1.1 billion VND to purchase equipment, repair fire prevention and control works, support patrols, handle violations, contract additional personnel on duty, and perform other tasks.

Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Lam - Head of the Management Board of Southern Ha Tinh Protective Forest said: “Every year, we develop a practical, flexible, highly feasible PCCCR plan and plan, with hypothetical situations. At the same time, we prepare human resources, means, equipment and closely coordinate with contracted households, functional forces, shock forces... to promptly respond to all bad situations. Thanks to that, the number of forest fires in the forest area has gradually decreased in the past 5 years, in 2024, there were no fires (only 3 fire points); this year we are also determined not to let any fires happen”.

Focus on preventing forest encroachment

The Southern Ha Tinh Forest Protection Management Board is assigned to manage 20,179 hectares of forest and forestry land, spread across 19 wards and communes of Ky Anh district and Ky Anh town, so the forest protection work encountered many difficulties. In that situation, the unit's forest protection stations focused on drastic and effective measures.

Check and evaluate natural forest areas that are zoned, protected, and promoted for enrichment.

Mr. Dang Xuan Thuy - Head of Hoa Lac Forest Protection Station said: "To prevent any encroachment on the 4,700 hectares of protective forest assigned to the station, we have regularly patrolled, inspected, and implemented the motto of forest protection at the root and promptly detected, deterred, suppressed, prevented, and handled violators. Along with that, we have coordinated with functional forces and authorities of the communes: Ky Lac, Ky Tan (Ky Anh district); Ky Hoa commune, Hung Tri ward (Ky Anh town) to do a good job of forest protection at the root".

The Management Board of the Southern Ha Tinh Protective Forest has also clearly identified key tasks, divided key areas, arranged appropriate forces and proposed good solutions to protect the forest. Each year, the unit organizes patrols and inspections in groups over 800 times and coordinates inspections and preventions over 300 times. Violations are detected and prevented promptly when they first arise, the situation of illegal cutting, encroachment and exploitation of natural forests is prevented, and the hunting of wild animals is controlled...

The Management Board of Southern Ha Tinh Protective Forest coordinates with functional forces to inspect and control forest areas vulnerable to encroachment and encroachment.

Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Lam added: “The unit has implemented synchronous solutions to prevent forest encroachment; regularly patrol and inspect the forest area in conjunction with forest protection at the root; divide management areas and specific forest protection for each station and each responsible individual. At the same time, closely coordinate with the People's Committees of communes, forest rangers, and neighboring forest owners; strengthen inspection, supervision, and urging of specialized forest protection forces, contracted households, etc. Thanks to that, forest security is maintained, no "hot spots" occur, and no serious forest encroachment incidents occur.”

Mr. Nguyen Dinh Luu - Head of Ky Anh District Forest Protection Department assessed: "In recent times, the Management Board of Southern Ha Tinh Protective Forest has always been proactive in overcoming difficulties, taking drastic and responsible actions to prevent forest encroachment and reduce forest fires. Thereby, contributing to the good performance of assigned duties and tasks and protecting the green color of forests in the southern part of the province".
