Six people were detained at the University of Copenhagen after about 20 people blocked the entrance to a building and three entered, a police spokesman said without commenting on specific individuals.
Greta Thunberg, the Swedish climate activist known for her campaign against man-made climate change, has recently become an active supporter of the Palestinian struggle, declaring in May that such protests “should be everywhere.”
Video posted by a pro-Palestinian student group shows police loading Thunberg and other detainees into police vans, with their hands cuffed or tied behind their backs.
Thunberg wore a traditional Palestinian keffiyeh patterned scarf, a popular symbol at pro-Palestinian protests.
The University of Copenhagen may take disciplinary action against students who participated in the protests, according to Kristian Cedervall Lauta, the university's vice-chancellorfor education . Thunberg is not a student at the university.
