In his commemorative speech, Major General Le Nhu Duc, Chairman of the Hanoi Veterans Association, emphasized: Over the past 78 years, our Party and State have always paid attention to leading and directing the work of war invalids, martyrs, and people with meritorious services to the revolution.
Major General Le Nhu Duc said: With their affection and responsibility, over the years, the Association at all levels has regularly cared for and done well in policy work, taking the lead in the movements of "Repaying gratitude", "All people take care of families of war invalids, martyrs and people with meritorious services to the revolution", joining hands to help families of meritorious services who are still in difficulty to improve their lives.
Recently, to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025), the Veterans Association at all levels consulted with local Party committees and authorities to meet and present gifts of gratitude to families with meritorious services, families of martyrs, veterans, former youth volunteers, former people's police officers and repair degraded houses for families of veterans, with a total amount of nearly 28 billion VND.

In recent years, the Association at all levels has mobilized cadres and members to contribute nearly 23 billion VND, helping 1,009 members build new and repair houses; donated 124 breeding cows; supported more than 200 poor veteran families with tens of billions of VND to develop production to escape poverty sustainably, among them are many comrades who are war invalids and martyrs' families; supported the "New Rural Construction" fund with more than 158 billion VND...
“On this year’s War Invalids and Martyrs Day, the City Veterans Association visited and sent gifts to 3 groups and 326 members who are war invalids, with a total amount of VND214 million; at the same time, sent two working delegations to offer incense and pay tribute to the heroic martyrs in Ha Giang and Quang Tri,” Major General Le Nhu Duc shared.
Returning to normal life, with the will to be self-reliant and self-reliant, many war veterans, wounded and sick soldiers, have overcome their disabilities, continued to contribute their strength and intelligence, setting shining examples in labor, production, social work...

A typical example is veteran - Colonel Do Quang Mao (born in 1963), who directly participated in the battle at Vi Xuyen front (Ha Giang), and is currently a 4/4 disabled veteran. Imbued with Uncle Ho's teaching "Disabled, but not useless", veteran Do Quang Mao has overcome all difficulties, set an example, taken the lead in life and work, and has been trusted and elected by the local Party Committee, government and people as Chairman of the Veterans Association of Ba Vi district.
Sharing at the program, veteran Do Quang Mao expressed: “The fierceness of the Northern border war has been over 40 years. Every year in July, we, the officers and soldiers of the Vi Xuyen front, turn our attention to the “Commemoration Day” on July 12, 1984, the battle in which nearly 1,000 soldiers, including 593 soldiers of the 356th division, died. The bones still lie in the mountains and forests, and the border is unknown when they will be found so that our comrades can return to their homeland and families.”


At the program, the City Veterans Association presented gifts to 94 outstanding war veterans. These are “Exemplary Veterans”, upholding the nature of “Uncle Ho’s Soldiers”, the tradition of Vietnamese veterans; being a solid support for the Party Committee, government and people of the Capital, contributing to building a civilized, modern and cultural Capital.
