Hanoi supports key industrial enterprises:

To help businesses develop, Hanoi has been promoting trade promotion activities, helping businesses participate in global production and supply chains; and connecting with training facilities to improve the quality of human resources.

Support businesses to expand their markets

According to the Hanoi Department of Industry and Trade, the city currently has 107 enterprises with 199 products recognized as key industrial products. These are large-scale enterprises with high competitiveness in the market, capable of international economic integration, deeply participating in the global production and supply chain, having a strong impact and high spillover effect on the capital's economy, contributing a large proportion to the total industrial production value of the whole city.

Every year, the capital’s key industrial product manufacturing enterprises achieve a revenue of nearly VND200,000 billion, accounting for about 35% of the city’s total industrial production value. Export turnover reaches nearly USD2 billion, creating jobs for nearly 80,000 workers.

To support businesses in promoting and expanding their markets, from 2022 up to now, Hanoi has annually organized the exhibition of key industrial products - the largest trade promotion fair to support key industrial enterprises in finding partners and expanding their markets in the year. This year, the Hanoi MIP Fair 2025 organized by the Hanoi Department of Industry and Trade has just taken place, gathering more than 200 businesses with 350 booths from 15 provinces and cities in the country and several countries around the world. Among them are many prestigious brands such as Sunhouse, Elmich, Son Ha, Viglacera, Vicostone, Eurowindow , Canon, Phenikaa, May 10...

Vice President of the Hanoi Association of Key Industrial Products Manufacturing Enterprises Nguyen Cong Cuong said that the most outstanding point of the program is to help businesses get more orders, expand cooperation between member businesses and between members and other partners. There are orders that have provided solutions on digital transformation, new technology, green and smart production, etc.

“However, in addition to supporting trade promotion and product promotion, the city also needs to support businesses producing key industrial products with more in-depth solutions. Currently, businesses are still facing difficulties in capital, interest rates as well as access to new and high technologies…”, Mr. Nguyen Cong Cuong suggested.

To support the industrial sector in general and key industries in particular, Deputy Director of the Hanoi Department of Industry and Trade Nguyen Kieu Oanh said that the Department will continue to promote support for enterprises producing key industrial products to develop science and technology, cooperate in developing high-quality human resources; mobilize large enterprises to participate in selecting key industrial products of the city. These solutions combined with product promotion activities and market expansion will be the driving force for key industrial products to truly play a leading role in the capital's industrial sector.

Removing the human resource bottleneck

Commenting on the capacity of key enterprises, Vice Chairman of the Hanoi Association of Key Industrial Products Manufacturing Enterprises Nguyen Cong Cuong affirmed that key industrial enterprises in Hanoi not only affirm their position through product quality, but also contribute increasingly to the socio-economic development of the capital, deserving to be the "leading birds" of Hanoi's industry.

However, key industrial enterprises are also facing significant challenges with the requirements of technological innovation, digital transformation, automation, and international integration. In that context, high-quality human resources become the decisive factor for the sustainable development of enterprises.

In reality, many students after graduating from university still lack practical skills, lack foreign languages, and are not familiar with modern production lines. Enterprises must retrain them before using them. This is the gap between training and actual needs that needs to be resolved.

From production and development practices, the key industrial enterprise community of Hanoi realizes that human resources are not only an operational factor, but also a strategic resource that determines the competitiveness, creativity and international integration capacity of enterprises.

Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Duc Thang, Vice Rector of East Asia University of Technology (EAUT), said that in the face of the growing demand for high-quality human resources for key industries, EAUT identifies the cooperation of businesses as a key factor to improve training efficiency. Each year, the school provides hundreds of engineers with solid skills, solid foundation knowledge and the ability to master new technology.

Therefore, the school wishes to cooperate closely with businesses in activities such as receiving interns, recruiting after graduation, coordinating scientific research, as well as implementing training programs on demand.

From a business perspective, Deputy General Director of Thanh Giong Communications and Computer Joint Stock Company Tran Nam Hai said that the recruitment needs of businesses are currently quite large, especially in the context of Industry 4.0 and the strong development of artificial intelligence (AI).

“We need human resources who are knowledgeable about technology and have business management skills to develop the market and sales. Graduates are an important source of candidates, but businesses still have to provide additional training to meet actual job requirements,” said Mr. Tran Nam Hai.

With the close connection between the State - School - Enterprise, enterprises in general as well as key industrial production enterprises are expected to open up many opportunities for substantive cooperation, gradually removing the "bottleneck" of human resources, creating a foundation for sustainable industrial development of the Capital in the new period.
