Hanoi stimulates demand for service experiences at 4-star hotels

Speaking at the meeting, Deputy Director of Hanoi Department of Tourism Nguyen Hong Minh said that in 2024, Hanoi strives to welcome over 27 million visitors, an increase of 9.2% compared to 2023. Of which, there will be over 5.5 million international visitors (including 3.8 million international visitors staying) up 16.4% compared to 2023 and 21.5 million domestic visitors, up 7.5% compared to 2023. Total revenue from tourists will reach over VND 109,410 billion, up 28.2% compared to 2023. The average room occupancy rate of accommodation establishments and hotels will reach 62% or more, up 3 percentage points compared to 2023.

In response to the domestic tourism stimulus program of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism with the theme "Vietnamese people travel to Vietnam - Vietnam I love"; at the same time, to attract domestic tourists to Hanoi, especially in the fall-summer of 2024 and the 70th anniversary of the Liberation of the Capital (October 10) with the theme "Hanoi - Come to love", the Department of Tourism has presided over and coordinated with the 4-5 star hotel system in Hanoi; Associations and tourism businesses to launch and build the stimulus program "Hanoi people and tourists experience services at 4-5 star hotels in Hanoi" to promote and attract Hanoi people and tourists to travel on-site, experience services, and stay at high-class hotels right where they live.

Up to now, 4-5 star hotels in the area have launched product packages responding to the tourism stimulus program to attract tourists to experience hotels in Hanoi, including: preferential policies on prices; tourism stimulus service product packages such as combos of accommodation - food/drink/tea party - gala; room - conference - shuttle; combo of food/drink - swimming; discount vouchers when using services, ...

Typical examples include the "Summer Indulgence Staycation" package of the Hotel de l'Opera Hanoi; the "City Vacation" and "Luxury Afternoon Tea" products of the Sofitel Legend Metropole Hotel; the "Happy Summer Vacation" product of the Movenpick Living West Hanoi Hotel; etc.

"In addition to offering attractive accommodation packages, we expect more response, participation and coordination from tourism service businesses and media agencies to stimulate demand and attract tourists and Hanoi residents to experience accommodation services at 4-5 star hotels in Hanoi. At the same time, forming links and cooperation between management agencies, associations, airlines, travel service businesses, tourist accommodation establishments, transportation companies, destinations, and food, shopping, entertainment service establishments... to create synchronization in developing tourism products of the city" - Mr. Nguyen Hong Minh said.

At the meeting, delegates, representatives of hotels and media agencies discussed and proposed solutions to promote the image, brand and services of hotels in the city, contributing to increasing the room occupancy rate at tourist accommodation establishments in the coming time, especially during the off-peak period.

A representative of JW Marriott Hotel shared: "With the strength of a hotel with green space, surrounded by a lake, since the beginning of summer, JW Marriott has built resort packages for families in Hanoi in particular and the whole country in general. We design resort packages combined with swimming pool and spa experiences for parents, along with a playground for children. In particular, the hotel has designed a combination of many folk and modern games together so that tourists, especially foreign guests, have the opportunity to experience and explore Vietnamese culture. However, despite building a product package with many attractive incentives, the hotel still has difficulties in how to bring information about the product package to Hanoians and Vietnamese tourists because in the minds of many people, using the services of 5-star hotels is quite expensive."

Director of Hanoitourist Travel Company Le Hong Thai shared: "Hotels and travel agencies participating in the stimulus program need to clearly identify the target customers as people living in Hanoi, guests from other provinces and cities coming to Hanoi and international guests. Hanoi guests usually stay for 1 night. Guests from other provinces and cities often stay the first and last night of the holiday or stay for 2 consecutive nights. If only experiencing staying at a hotel will not be attractive, so units need to cooperate to build a package tour combined with sightseeing programs at some places in Hanoi such as: culinary experience, city tour of Hanoi, night tour experience... And need to strongly exploit the cultural value which is a special feature of tourism in the capital. Along with that, hotels need to consider the actual situation to allow guests to check-in from 10 am and check-out at 2 pm."

Regarding the communication campaign, Mr. Le Hong Thai said that this requires collective strength to stimulate the curiosity of tourists. Currently, young people have the mindset of living and enjoying immediately, so it is necessary to promote communication on social networking sites. From there, Mr. Le Hong Thai suggested that we should choose an online sale day with a deeper discount to attract customers to the program.

Faced with the difficulties of hotels in building products and communication activities, Deputy Director of Hanoi Department of Tourism Nguyen Hong Minh pledged to always accompany and support hotels to resolve existing difficulties. He also hoped that media agencies and newspapers would actively coordinate with hotels and Hanoi Department of Tourism to carry out communication campaigns from the general to the details so that the stimulus program "Hanoi people and tourists experience services at 4-5 star hotels in Hanoi" can achieve the highest efficiency./.
