This morning (June 6), nearly 103,000 candidates in the capital went to testing sites to complete procedures to take the entrance exam for grade 10 public high schools for the 2025-2026 school year.
During the exam registration process, candidates will receive an exam room, listen to the exam regulations and schedule. They will be instructed on how to fill in the multiple-choice answer sheet, how to write information on the exam sheet, and regulations on items allowed and prohibited in the exam room.
Candidates are responsible for reviewing the information they have registered for the exam to ensure accuracy of relevant information such as full name, date of birth, etc. In case of detecting errors, candidates must immediately notify the exam supervisor for timely adjustment.
From June 7 to 8, nearly 103,000 ninth graders in Hanoi officially entered the race for "tickets" to public high schools for the 2025-2026 school year. With limited quotas, especially in top schools and inner-city districts, the exam is considered more stressful than "competition for university admission". Up to this point, preparations for facilities, security and safety at all testing sites across the city have been completed.
Hanoi is the locality with the largest number of public 10th grade candidates, accounting for 1/10 of the whole country. Hanoi has arranged 201 official exam sites with more than 4,400 exam rooms, along with a system of backup exam sites in districts, towns, and cities, ready to respond to unexpected situations such as bad weather, power outages, or other objective factors.
This year, the enrollment rate for public grade 10 schools reached 64%, an increase of 3% compared to last year. In accordance with the regulations in the examination regulations, Hanoi will announce the exam scores and admission scores at the same time. It is expected that by July 6 at the latest, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training will announce the admission scores of high schools.
In addition to inspection teams from districts, towns and cities, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training also advised the City People's Committee to set up 19 inspection teams to inspect facilities and preparations at all testing sites.
Director of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training Tran The Cuong said: “We have thoroughly inspected the facilities at the examination sites, especially the electricity, water, air conditioning, and cooling fan systems. In hot weather conditions, all examination sites have backup generators and response plans for situations such as power outages and heavy rain causing flooding. Medical work is taken seriously, at each examination site there is a medical team on duty to promptly support students and exam invigilators when necessary."
According to Mr. Tran The Cuong, Hanoi has developed a plan to support students with disabilities, illnesses or special circumstances. At some exam locations, there are separate exam rooms, doctors on duty and necessary medical equipment.
From now until the exam day, the exam sites will continue to review and update students who need special support. From there, the City's Examination and Admissions Steering Committee will decide specifically on support solutions for each unit, both ensuring the students' rights to take the exam and complying with the exam regulations.
"The Hanoi Department of Education and Training is committed to accompanying and supporting all students who wish to take the exam, creating learning conditions for them in many suitable forms, absolutely leaving no one behind," said Mr. Cuong.
The leaders of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training also thoroughly instructed the staff and teachers in charge of the exam to thoroughly train them on the exam regulations, not to be too stressed or pressured, but also not to be negligent or subjective, ensuring that the exam takes place safely, seriously, and in accordance with the regulations. Candidates should note that they should not bring their phones into the exam room because even if they do not use them, they will still violate the exam regulations and will be subject to the highest penalty of suspension from the exam.
The Director of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training also asked parents not to put pressure on candidates, to create a comfortable mindset for them so that they can reduce exam pressure and have the best mindset to enter the exam.
