Through monitoring on satellite images, lightning location data and weather radar images, it is shown that convective clouds are forming and developing in the area of Bat Trang commune, Linh Nam ward. This convective cloud area tends to move and expand towards the inner city of Hanoi .

From now until the next 4 hours, the wards of Long Bien, Vinh Hung, Hoang Mai, Yen So, Vinh Tuy, Tuong Mai, Hoang Mai, Bach Mai, Hong Ha... will have showers and thunderstorms, then spreading to other areas in the inner city of Hanoi. During thunderstorms, there is a possibility of tornadoes, lightning and strong gusts of wind.

According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, in the Hanoi area, from noon on October 13 to the end of October 15, there will be rain, moderate rain and thunderstorms with rainfall of 40-80mm, locally heavy rain over 100mm.

In addition, last night and this morning (October 13), the area from Quang Tri to Hue city, the South Central Coast, the southern Central Highlands and the South had scattered showers and thunderstorms, with heavy rain in some places.

Rainfall from 7:00 p.m. on October 12 to 7:00 a.m. on October 13 was locally over 60mm in some places, such as Vinh Ninh station (Hue city) 67.0mm, Hoa Khanh station ( Dak Lak ) 94.2mm, Cau 14 station (Lam Dong) 90.2mm,...

It is forecasted that from the afternoon of October 13 to the end of October 15, the Northern Delta region and Thanh Hoa-Ha Tinh provinces will have moderate rain with common rainfall of 40-100mm, locally heavy to very heavy rain over 150mm; the midland and mountainous areas of the northeast will have showers and thunderstorms, common rainfall of 30-60mm, locally heavy rain over 100mm.

On the afternoon and night of October 13, the area from Quang Tri to Lam Dong and the South will have scattered showers and thunderstorms with rainfall of 10-30mm, some places will have heavy rain over 80mm (thunderstorms will be concentrated in the afternoon and evening). Thunderstorms in these areas will continue for many days to come.

The meteorological agency warns that thunderstorms may produce tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind. Localized heavy rains may cause flash floods on small rivers and streams, landslides on steep slopes and flooding in low-lying areas.
