On the afternoon of April 24, A Vao Border Guard Station, Quang Tri Border Guard, said that the unit's combined military and civilian medical station had just provided timely first aid to two sisters who were poisoned after eating strange mushrooms.
Previously, at 6:30 p.m. on April 23, two sisters, Ho Thi Soang (9 years old) and Ho Thi Sen (6 years old; both living in Ba Lin village, A Vao commune, Dakrong district) were brought to the A Vao military-civilian medical station by their family in a state of vomiting and severe abdominal pain. Among them, Ho Thi Sen showed signs of fatigue and drowsiness.
Soang and Sen were rescued by military and civilian medical staff in time after being poisoned by eating strange mushrooms.
Ms. Ho Thi Be (29 years old, mother of the two children) said that about an hour ago, the children ate a type of yellow mushroom, about 5 cm tall, picked by an uncle from the forest. After eating, they had the above symptoms, so the family took them to the military medical station for treatment.
Immediately after receiving them, suspecting that Soang and Sen had mushroom poisoning, the military medical staff induced vomiting, injected cardiac stimulants, and gave them IV fluids. By April 24, Soang and Sen's health had stabilized, and their families took them home to rest.
Ba Lin is a village located nearly 20 km from the center of A Vao commune. The road to the village is very difficult and bumpy. There are about 200 households of Pa Ko ethnic people living here.
