Binh Thuan: A captain and a fisherman in La Gi town died while going down to the hold to bring fish ashore to sell, suspected of suffocation.
On the afternoon of June 28, a fishing boat captained by Mr. Nguyen Tan Binh, 33 years old, docked at La Gi fishing port after a two-week trip at sea.

When the fishermen opened the fish hold and climbed down to bring seafood up to sell, suddenly hot steam rose up and caused three people to collapse on the spot.
When pulled out of the cabin, Captain Binh and one fisherman were confirmed dead, the remaining person was in critical condition and was transferred to Ho Chi Minh City for emergency treatment.
La Gi town police have examined the scene and requested a forensic examination. The initial cause was determined to be suffocation from the fish tank gas.
According to authorities, there have been many deaths in seafood storage tanks that were not necessarily caused by gas poisoning. Because these tanks have been closed for a long time, when opened, there must be time for oxygen to get inside. If fishermen go down into the tank immediately after opening the lid, they will suffocate and die.
