Hai Phong commends and awards 720 million VND to teachers and students who won prizes at the International Biology Olympiad - IBO 2025

On the afternoon of July 29, at the City Political - Administrative Center, the City People's Committee held a ceremony to commend and reward students and teachers who achieved high results in the 2025 International Biology Olympiad. Attending the ceremony were comrade Nguyen Minh Hung, member of the City Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee; Board of Directors of the Department of Education and Training (GD-DT); representatives of leaders of departments, branches, and staff and teachers of Tran Phu High School for the Gifted.

Comrade Nguyen Minh Hung, Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee attended the ceremony to commend and reward teachers and students with high achievements in the International Biology Olympiad.

Speaking at the commendation and award ceremony, Comrade Nguyen Minh Hung, Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee, congratulated and warmly commended Nguyen Huu Thanh's outstanding achievements, and acknowledged the dedication and solid expertise of the teachers, especially the teaching staff of Tran Phu High School for the Gifted and the teachers and coaches of the national team. He also expressed his respect for Thanh's family - who have always been behind him, creating a solid spiritual support and the best learning conditions for him to confidently develop his abilities.

Comrade Nguyen Minh Hung emphasized: Nguyen Huu Thanh's achievements must first of all be attributed to his tireless efforts, his spirit of overcoming difficulties, his passion for science and his desire to conquer the pinnacle of knowledge. This is not only the pride of the school, his family, and the city's education and training sector, but also the joy and honor of the Party Committee, government and people of the city.

Nguyen Huu Thanh’s silver medal helped put Vietnam in the top 10 countries with the highest scores in this year’s competition. This is a very impressive achievement, vividly demonstrating the quality of education and training in Hai Phong and showing the increasingly strong international integration capacity of the city’s students.

Comrade Nguyen Minh Hung, Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee, spoke at the Commendation and Reward Ceremony.

The Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee stated: Hai Phong City is facing new development opportunities, especially after merging with Hai Duong Province, becoming the third largest administrative-economic center in the country. In that process, high-quality human resources are one of the key and decisive factors. Therefore, the city will continue to pay more attention and invest in education, especially in key education and talent training.

The city always identifies the foundation in the city's development orientation: people are the center, the subject and the driving force of development. In which, the young generation - especially excellent students, with innovative thinking and deep integration - are the next generation, the pillar for the future of rapid, sustainable and comprehensive development of Hai Phong.

Nguyen Huu Thanh, a 12th grade Biology student at Tran Phu High School for the Gifted, shared about his journey of reaping "sweet fruit" and expressed his gratitude to the city, the Department of Education and Training, the school and his family.

From the example of Nguyen Huu Thanh, the Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee hopes to spread the flame of passion, will and spirit of overcoming difficulties. You need to maintain your faith and aspiration, constantly train your mettle, and cultivate your knowledge to reach new heights, contributing to bringing the city and the country on par with the world powers according to the advice of beloved Uncle Ho.

The Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee requested Party committees at all levels, authorities, departments, branches, organizations and the whole society to continue to pay due attention to education and training; invest in developing high-quality human resources; create favorable conditions for each student to have the opportunity to develop their capacity and qualities, become global citizens, and make worthy contributions to the cause of building Hai Phong city into a modern, smart, civilized and prosperous city.

Comrade Nguyen Minh Hung, Member of the City Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee and the Board of Directors of the Department of Education and Training congratulated teachers and students of Tran Phu High School for the Gifted.

On this occasion, the Chairman of the City People's Committee decided to award certificates of merit to Nguyen Huu Thanh and Ms. Vu Thi Thu Huyen - Thanh's direct teacher. Along with that, the city spent 720 million VND to reward teachers and students of Tran Phu High School for the Gifted. Of which, Nguyen Huu Thanh was awarded 400 million VND; Ms. Vu Thi Thu Huyen was awarded 200 million VND; the collective of teachers participating in teaching the team and the collective of the Board of Directors were awarded a total of 120 million VND.

The 2025 International Biology Olympiad held in the Philippines, the Vietnamese delegation had 4 students participating and excellently won 4 medals with 1 gold medal, 2 silver medals and 1 bronze medal. In which, student Nguyen Huu Thanh, Tran Phu High School for the Gifted contributed 1 silver medal.
