The event was held in the context of Hai Phong implementing the project "Building Hai Phong into a city of music". In recent times, Hai Phong has successfully organized many large art programs such as: Wave Memory Concert, Y-Fest Hai Phong 2025...
These events, along with the program honoring musician Do Nhuan, are considered important preparations for Hai Phong to gradually join the UNESCO Creative Cities Network in the field of music.
Musician Do Nhuan (1922-1991) was born in Binh Giang, Hai Duong (old), but spent his childhood in the port city of Hai Phong, where his father worked in the military band.
During his career of more than half a century, he left many great marks on Vietnam's revolutionary music and was awarded noble prizes such as the Second Class Independence Medal, the Second Class Victory Medal and the Ho Chi Minh Prize, Phase I, in 1996.
His name is now given to a street in Hanoi as a social recognition of his great contributions.
Considered a “big tree” of revolutionary music, musician Do Nhuan was both an artist and a soldier, as well as an influential organizer. He was the first General Secretary of the Vietnam Musicians Association and the founder of Vietnamese opera with pioneering works.
Organizing this art program shows Hai Phong's gratitude for the musical heritage he left behind, and at the same time contributes to spreading traditional artistic values to contemporary audiences.
