The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam has just sent a document to relevant units to implement the use of level 2 personal electronic identification accounts for air passengers.

Accordingly, the Department requested a pilot program to accept passengers using level 2 electronic identification accounts instead of citizen identification cards. The pilot program will be implemented simultaneously at airports from June 1 to August 1 for domestic flights.

The procedure is as follows:

At check-in counters and when boarding , accept level 2 electronic identification accounts when passengers check in for flights in 2 steps:

Step 1: Require passengers to open their own level 2 electronic identification account;

Step 2: Compare the passenger's photo on the level 2 electronic identification account with the real person and compare the passenger's information on the flight with the information on the level 2 electronic identification account.

At the aviation security checkpoint (where airline travel documents are checked), level 2 electronic identification accounts are accepted when passengers check in for their flights in 2 steps:

Step 1: Require passengers to open their own level 2 electronic identification account;

Step 2: Compare the passenger's photo on the level 2 electronic identification account with the real person and compare the passenger's information on the flight with the information on the level 2 electronic identification account.

The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam also noted that the pilot will only be conducted with voluntary passengers.

Airline staff participating in the pilot voluntarily used their phones and electronic identification accounts for the pilot.

Airline staff participating in the pilot pledge not to use passenger information for illegal purposes.

At the same time, the Department also requires that at check-in counters, aviation security check lines, and pilot boarding points, there must be signs announcing the acceptance of level 2 electronic identification accounts when passengers check in for flights (voluntary passengers).

Airports arrange suitable locations and coordinate with C06 and local police to issue level 2 electronic identification accounts to air passengers.
