David Leroy Carter (46 years old, Los Angeles, USA) was arrested by Colorado police on the afternoon of August 13 after "becoming agitated" about 4 hours after the flight took off from Norfolk, Virginia, according to NBC Los Angeles .

The Grand Junction Police Department said airline staff attempted to restrain the drunken passenger twice during the flight, but Carter “successfully broke free both times” in a profanity-laced rage around 11:15 a.m.

Flight MX704 en route to Los Angeles was later diverted to Grand Junction, Colorado, according to FlightAware .

According to the New York Post , upon landing, Carter was arrested and taken to the Mesa County Detention Center. “The investigation is ongoing and any new information or charges will be released by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI),” the Grand Junction Police Department said.

A video of the chaotic scene on the plane posted on TikTok shows a flight attendant trying to tie Carter up with plastic straps, but he pushes away.

In the video, Carter yells at the flight attendant: “That’s the last thing you’re going to do to me.” When the flight attendant orders: “Stop! You need to sit down!” Carter just smirks and replies: “No, ma’am.”

The flight attendant then enlisted the help of other passengers and staff to subdue Carter. In the video, another passenger can be seen putting him back in his seat before he gets up again. Seconds later, a tall man in a white T-shirt approaches, picks Carter up, carries him like a child across the aisle, and places him back in his seat, shouting, “Sit down now.”

Police said no one was injured in the mid-air disturbance, but Breeze Airways told NBC Los Angeles that “a flight attendant and a passenger were checked for minor injuries.”
