National Data Center Achieves Uptime Tier IV, First Design Phase in Vietnam

(Chinhphu.vn) - Recently, the National Data Center, Ministry of Public Security held a ceremony to receive the Uptime Tier IV certificate in the design phase. This is the first Uptime Tier IV project in Vietnam, and is also one of the Uptime Tier IV projects with the largest IT capacity in the region awarded to the National Data Center by the Uptime Institute.

Uptime Tier IV is the highest level in the Uptime Tier system, providing the ability to operate even in the event of serious incidents.

This event is an important milestone in the journey of building the data center, affirming that the technical design documents of the unit have fully met the strict criteria for reliability, availability and resilience of a Tier IV Data Center.

Speaking at the announcement ceremony, Major General Nguyen Ngoc Cuong, Director of the National Data Center, emphasized that to achieve this certification, the design of the data center had undergone rigorous testing and met a series of complex technical criteria, such as the design must ensure complete fault tolerance, the system must have complete dual redundancy, plus a backup component, and at the same time ensure that it can be maintained without service interruption, and can withstand unexpected errors.

Achieving certification at the design stage not only demonstrates the ability to think and organize a methodical project, but also the unit's strong commitment to realizing a data center with the highest operating standards.

Affirming digital infrastructure capacity, enhancing data sovereignty

Mr. Nguyen Hoang Minh, General Directorof FPT IS, FPT Corporation, commented that the National Data Center achieving Uptime Tier IV certification in the design phase is not only a technical achievement but also a strategic step affirming digital infrastructure capacity, enhancing data sovereignty and promoting sustainable digital economic development in Vietnam.

In this project, the joint venture FPT, Aurecon, and TwoG were entrusted by the National Data Center to accompany and advise on project implementation. FPT representatives expressed their commitment to work closely with the requirements and tasks of the National Data Center as well as key issues in data development, ensuring the criteria of "correct - sufficient - clean - alive, unified, and shared".

Mr. Minh said that achieving Uptime Tier IV certification in the design phase shows that the National Data Center has achieved the highest level of infrastructure redundancy, with the ability to maintain continuous and stable operations even when technical problems occur or during maintenance... This is a vital factor for critical systems such as finance, telecommunications, government , defense...

In terms of digital government and data security, the certificate will help Vietnam reduce its dependence on foreign infrastructure, increase digital sovereignty, meet strict requirements on cybersecurity, protect citizen data and national databases. Vietnam already owns a National Data Center that meets standards and is as strong as leading countries that have achieved certification such as Data Center NEXTDC (Australia); Data Center Switch SUPERNAP (USA)...
