Bringing to Love Station a lovely box, meticulously and delicately designed, Ms. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Hieu confidently introduced that it was a product she made with her deformed hands. The after-effects of polio at the age of 4 caused Ms. Hieu to gradually lose feeling in her right hand and her legs to no longer be able to walk.

Ngoc Hieu's journey to make the "snail shell bloom" will be told in Love Station at 10am on March 9 on VTV1 channel.

Due to poor health, Ms. Hieu only finished 12th grade. With the desire to live a normal life, have an income and feel useful, Hieu took a job as a babysitter at home. The job was stable but did not bring her joy because the girl Ngoc Hieu at that time had many dreams and ambitions with a hobby of drawing.

In 2008, Ngoc Hieu heard that there was a gemstone painting production company in Thu Duc City that offered free vocational training for the disabled. Having a passion for colorful paintings and being attracted by the sparkling colored stones, Ngoc Hieu asked his family to let him go to school, but no one agreed because they were worried.

Not willing to sit still and watch her dream come to an end, Ngoc Hieu hired a motorbike taxi to go there to find out. Fascinated by the gemstone paintings, she decided to change her career. However, making gemstone paintings is not as simple as Ngoc Hieu thought, because this job requires a pair of strong, agile, and active hands.

Many times she failed, many times the 23-year-old girl was disappointed in herself, because she could not control her hands.

"That's why, when I saw everyone taking turns creating their own works, Hieu cried a lot. After that, Hieu begged people to give him more time to study. The first work was about the word "Patience". The joy doubled when someone ordered my painting. And so I was accepted and continued working at the company," Ms. Ngoc Hieu recalled with tears in her eyes.

While swimming in the sea, discovering that her leg was scratched by a seashell, Ms. Hieu came up with the idea of turning the things that had just hurt her into a work of art. Since then, she has started researching making paintings from seashells. At first, she encountered many difficulties. Unlike the available paintings, paintings made from seashells require creativity and originality. With weak hands, she has been burned and had glue stuck to her body many times, but she considers it a challenge in her work that she must overcome.

"Even broken and shattered shells have their own shapes that create their own beauty, just like the way I look at life from many perspectives. I have been hiding in my "shell" for so many years. I have to come out of my "shell" to see my flower. Everyone wants to be a flower, because a flower is truly beautiful, not gloomy like when you hide in your shell. And when you do everything with love from your heart, you will touch the hearts of others," Ngoc Hieu shared.

Ngoc Hieu's motivation is his family. The appearance of Mrs. Xuan Bich (Ngoc Hieu's mother) and Thuc Doan (Hieu's daughter) brought many emotions to the program. Mrs. Bich shared about Ngoc Hieu's efforts and was always proud of her daughter who suffered but was full of determination to overcome. Through the story of Thuc Doan's daughter, the audience will have a more sympathetic view of a talented mother with constant efforts.

The paintings are made by Ms. Hieu herself with creativity, so each work is "unique". Among her thousands of products, she is most satisfied with the painting commemorating the 10,000th heart surgery made of snail shells with the name Vietnamese Heart - one heart, one homeland .

Not only does she create products to beautify life, Ms. Hieu also teaches for free to those who want to turn discarded items into works of art.

Ms. Hieu's future dream is to have more works of art reach the world so that international friends can know about many exquisite products made by Vietnamese people. And she will help more people with unfortunate circumstances in life.
