Based on the role, meaning and importance of identifying, protecting and promoting agarwood culture in the flow of national culture, the Truth National Political Publishing House published the book Vietnamese Agarwood Culture by Dr. Nguyen Duy Thai, Institute of Culture and Development, Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics.

Agarwood is the essence of the Aquilaria tree, a noble product that nature bestows upon the country and people of Vietnam. Present in many areas of social life for a long time, agarwood has contributed to the formation of a unique and distinctive cultural feature of the Vietnamese people.

In ancient Vietnamese books and foreign documents, agarwood has been mentioned with many different roles and uses. Agarwood, Ky Nam (the best type of agarwood) has great economic value. Forged from soil, sun and sea breeze along with special natural and social conditions, agarwood in Khanh Hoa, Vietnam has long been famous for its best quality in the world, favored and praised by international friends.

In addition to material values, related to Vietnamese agarwood is a diverse intangible cultural space in many aspects: culture, history, religion, beliefs, art, music, literature... Associated with the development process of the ancient kingdom of Champa, agarwood culture has increasingly expanded and spread to many regions across the country.

The art of making and enjoying agarwood of Vietnamese people has reached its peak in the production of handicrafts, jewelry, costumes, cuisine, traditional and modern medicine...

Besides natural agarwood, nowadays there is also cultivated agarwood. Along with that, innovations in exploiting, producing, processing and trading agarwood have created increasingly sophisticated and high-quality products, affirming the brand and sustainable value of Vietnamese agarwood over time.
