The patient is Ms. Thi Sam, 47 years old, residing in Hamlet 3, Xuan Hoa Commune, Xuan Loc District, admitted to the hospital with severe abdominal pain.
After examination and clinical tests, the doctors diagnosed the patient with a right ovarian cyst and quickly deployed a surgical team.
Doctor Bui Thai Chien, Director of Xuan Loc District Medical Center, said that the dermoid cyst, also known as a teratoma, is 10x10cm in size, weighs about 2kg, and contains bones, hair, skin, fur, nails and mucus.
After surgery, the patient's health recovered well.
Dr. Chien also added that patient Sam is a Choro ethnic group with extremely difficult circumstances, her husband has passed away, and her children are far away. When she was admitted to the hospital, her health insurance had expired and she was unable to pay the hospital fees. However, the center's doctors were still able to perform emergency surgery in time.
