On May 22, Louis Vuitton held a show of its Cruise 2026 collection at the main courtyard of the Palais des Papes Palace - a massive medieval architectural work in the South of France.

The show was designed by the brand's womenswear creative director Nicolas Ghesquière.

Audiences watched the show from elevated platforms along the catwalk, including French First Lady Brigitte Macron, film stars Catherine Deneuve and Cate Blanchett, and Louis Vuitton menswear creative director Pharrell Williams in the front row.

Just after sunset, models walked in a series of striking looks: metallic vests that caught light, flame-patterned capes, and gladiator boots covered in reflective glass.

Some silhouettes are also accented with ruffles or chains that create movement, alongside loose bohemian silhouettes like tiered dresses and puff sleeves.

This event of Louis Vuitton - a brand of LVMH group, the world's largest luxury brand empire - takes place in the context of the high-end fashion industry facing a prolonged period of decline.

Several major brands such as Gucci, Balenciaga (belonging to Kering), Chanel and Dior have also made notable changes to their creative teams recently./.
