Surpassing 24 teams from countries in the East Asia region, Cau Giay Secondary School (Hanoi) has excellently won the first prize in the regional global film making competition Your World with a project applying artificial intelligence (AI) to improve the effectiveness of teaching English to children at SOS Children's Village.
This is an annual competition organised by the British Council for students aged 14 to 17 from British Council partner schools. Students will form teams of 3 to 5 members, make a video of up to 3 minutes in length, presenting their ideas to improve the quality and accessibilityof education in their local community. The competition aims to help students develop critical thinking and creativity by applying knowledge from different subjects to create positive changes in their community.
The theme of this year’s competition is “Sustainable Development: Equipping Young People to Build the Future,” which is closely aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 4 on quality education, demonstrating the importance of preparing future leaders with the skills and mindset to effectively address sustainability issues on a global scale.
The organizers received 642 excellent projects submitted by more than 3,200 students from 34 countries. The global first prize went to students from Scoris International School (Uganda) with an initiative to solve the unemployment problem of women.
This is the 10th year Vietnam has participated in the contest with 8 representatives.
Mr. Luu Van Thong, Principal of Cau Giay Secondary School, said that participating in the contest not only helps students approach global issues but also creates an environment for them to develop skills, creative thinking and a sense of social responsibility in the context of digital transformation. “We are proud that the students’ journey in the contest has spread the positive values of Vietnamese education to the world,” Mr. Thong said./.
