RT reported that the latest meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and US Special Envoy Steve Witkoff took place at the Kremlin on August 6. President Putin's foreign policy aide, Mr. Yury Ushakov, also attended the meeting.
Mr. Yury Ushakov said the two sides had a constructive and productive discussion, which touched on the conflict in Ukraine as well as the prospects for strategic cooperation between Russia and the United States.

"Russia has received certain signals from US President Donald Trump and has sent messages in response," said Yury Ushakov.
Mr. Ushakov did not disclose further details, noting that President Trump had not yet been informed about the results of the meeting.
Mr Witkoff's visit to Russia comes amid growing frustration with President Trump over the lack of quick results in his efforts to broker a peace deal between Russia and Ukraine.
Mr Trump has recently urged Moscow to reach a deal with Kiev as soon as possible, warning that if no deal is reached, Russia and its trading partners could face additional tariffs of up to 100%.
Moscow has repeatedly said it is ready for a peace deal, but has stressed that any deal must reflect "new territorial realities" and address the root causes of the conflict.
Russian officials have praised President Trump's mediation efforts, but dismissed his latest threat.
On July 29, President Trump announced that Russia must end the conflict with Ukraine within 10 days, otherwise the US will impose new sanctions on the country.
