The new chipset is said to help bridge the performance gap between high-end and mid-range devices.
Recently, famous leaker Digital Chat Station said that the Snapdragon 8s Elite chip is expected to reach an AnTuTu score of around 2 million. That means the performance of this SoC is quite comparable to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, although a bit slower.
Leaked sources reveal that the Snapdragon 8s Elite chip will deliver impressive performance, even comparable to some Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 flagships, while possessing a more competitive price.
Accordingly, the new chipset will not use Qualcomm's custom Oryon cores, introduced with the Snapdragon 8 Elite. Instead, it will be based on a more conventional CPU architecture, featuring Cortex-X4 main cores and A720 efficiency cores, providing similar performance to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3.
The source revealed that the performance of the new chip may be slightly reduced to optimize power consumption and maintain a competitive price for the mid-high-end segment.
The SM8735 chipset was previously spotted in Xiaomi's HyperOS software earlier this year, and it's rumored to power upcoming devices like the Redmi Turbo 4 Pro or Redmi K90.
Digital Chat Station also said: Snapdragon 8s Elite chip is likely to be used by many phone brands in the near future.
Besides Xiaomi, manufacturers such as Honor, iQOO and Oppo are also rumored to be developing ultra-thin photography-focused phones using this SoC.
