Exemplary, dedicated

Having been attached to Loc Thinh commune since its early days, Ms. Thi Tam has always promoted her exemplary and dedicated role in all work. Although working at the smallest level, she is always responsible and stands side by side with the people. Understanding language is the biggest barrier in disseminating policies to the people, so with the advantage of being an ethnic minority, she visits each family to talk and explain in her mother tongue so that people can understand and follow. "Although I am busy with family work, I still try to spend time on association work. I am willing to do anything for my people, just hoping to contribute to helping everyone in the hamlet have a more stable life" - Ms. Tam shared.

According to Ms. Tam, to help people improve their economic situation , people working in the association must clearly understand the policies and grasp each family's circumstances. Seeing that people have not yet accessed preferential loans, she does not hesitate to go to each household to guide them from completing the application to using the capital effectively. For many households in difficulty and not meeting the conditions, she directly mobilizes resources from the higher-level women's association and the loan group to support them.

“Ms. Tam gave me enthusiastic guidance, so I was bold enough to borrow money to raise livestock. Thanks to the capital to rotate, my family’s life is now much more stable than before,” said Mr. Tran Van Huong in Cha La hamlet.

Not only taking care of the economy, Ms. Tam is also active in taking care of community health. Whether early in the morning or late in the evening, she always takes the time to visit each house to remind women and children of their vaccination schedules. In cases where people live far away or have no one to take them, she is willing to go to the place to pick them up and drop them off to ensure that everyone has timely access to medical services. Because of her dedication, everyone loves and trusts her as a family member.

“When I was pregnant, Ms. Tam often came to my house to remind me to get vaccinated. When I gave birth, she also reminded me to get medicine and get vaccinated for the baby. I am very grateful for Ms. Tam's care for me and my child,” Ms. Thi Sa Ruon in Cha La hamlet emotionally shared.

Preserving national identity

As a Khmer, Tam is always proud of her ethnic culture and constantly contributes to preserving it. Having learned sewing since the age of 15, she often helps people to adjust traditional costumes to fit and be neat during holidays and Tet. In addition, she also actively encourages talented women to join in practicing Khmer dances to perform in hamlet and commune events. Thereby, not only enriching spiritual life but also arousing pride and community cohesion, especially among the younger generation.

Ms. Ma Thi Hoa, Chairwoman of the Women's Union of Loc Thinh Commune, said: "Ms. Tam is a person who understands women's lives and psychology very well. She is fluent in both Khmer and Vietnamese, so her propaganda is very effective. Thanks to that, people can access and effectively implement the Party's policies and guidelines and the State's policies and laws."

For nearly 2 decades of working for the association, for Ms. Tam, the greatest joy and happiness is when she sees people healthy, their lives increasingly stable, and the younger generation knowing how to preserve and be proud of their national cultural identity. "We live so that the younger generation can look at us and learn from us" - those simple words are the silent fire that has urged her to persevere throughout the journey.

The image of a simple, devoted and responsible Khmer woman like Ms. Thi Tam has been and will continue to spread good living values in the peaceful border countryside.
