Mr. Lo Van Hoang, Deputy Director of the Thuan Chau District Agricultural Service Center, said: Every year, the unit directs officials in charge of communes to coordinate with localities to review people's needs, organize training courses, and provide guidance on production techniques suitable to people's ability to absorb. At the same time, advise the District People's Committee to deploy many agricultural models to promote production development.
Since the beginning of the year, the Center has organized 5 training courses on intensive farming techniques, care, pest control for rice, vegetables and circular production in livestock farming for over 400 farmers; organized investigations, estimates and forecasts of plant pests over 24 sessions; coordinated with seed companies to deploy demonstration models of A Sao glutinous rice varieties, TBR 97 non-glutinous rice, Ha Phat non-glutinous rice, MHC2 (glutinous rice), on a scale of over 5 hectares in Chieng La and Bon Phang communes.
In addition, the Center coordinated with localities to build hydroponic water spinach growing models on cages in Ban Xa village, Liep Te commune; mud-free eel farming in cement tanks in Hinh village, Tong Co commune; Dong rieng tree growing in Na Cua village, Chieng Ngam commune; banana tree growing intercropped with coffee in Co Liu village, Chieng Bom commune and intensive cultivation of Hung Yen egg lychee in Bo village, Bo Muoi commune. The models were supported by the State with 450 million VND; the people contributed over 180 million VND.
The model of growing cassia in Na Cua village, Chieng Ngam commune was implemented by the center since the beginning of April, with 4 households participating, on a scale of 2 hectares. Participating in the project, households were supported with 120 million VND to buy seeds, materials, fertilizers, and were guided in the form of "hand-holding" on planting and care techniques for each stage. Mr. Ca Van Phuc shared: Following the technical process as instructed, up to now, more than 5,000 m2 of cassia has grown more than one meter high, with a large cluster of tubers at the base. Ca Van Phuc's cassia is easy to grow, does not require much care, and has a stable output because it can be sold to local processing facilities. In addition, the tree trunk can also be used as animal feed and effective organic fertilizer.
As for the family of Mr. Quang Van Tuan, Hinh village, Tong Co commune, the district's agricultural service center supported 2,850 eel fry to be raised in cement tanks, with a total cost of 50 million VND. Mr. Tuan said: Eels were raised on a trial basis in 2 tanks, with a bottom area of about 9 square meters/tank, both of which were tiled to prevent the eels from being injured or scratched. Currently, the eels are growing and developing well. I hope that all levels and sectors will continue to support funding to replicate the model.
Continuing to develop agricultural production models, Thuan Chau District Agricultural Service Center focuses on guiding farmers to build models suitable to actual conditions, with the ability to consume products, especially production models linked to the value chain; playing a good role in supporting people in applying technical advances to production; encouraging farmers to proactively learn new models, contributing to increasing income and developing agriculture in a sustainable direction.
