Shea Lacey is a notable name of Manchester United academy. |
According to The Times , the 18-year-old talent from Carrington was named in the first team squad by coach Ruben Amorim for the match against Everton in round 12 of the Premier League. This is a worthy reward for the right winger who is considered the "jewel" of the Carrington academy since Kobbie Mainoo.
Lacey has trained with the first team many times this season and quickly caught the attention of experts and fans watching the U18 and U21 MU. His ability to dribble the ball in one touch, pass people at high speed and tactical vision beyond his age has even made his seniors admire him.
Amorim's plan is clear, he wants to speed up the integration process of Lacey before Amad Diallo and Bryan Mbuemo leave for AFCON 2025 in December. That means Lacey could be available in the coming weeks, and could even come off the bench against Everton if things go well.
Lacey plays as a winger and has been a star performer at the youth academy for the past two seasons. He is highly regarded for his technical skills, tactical vision and potential to become a mainstay of the Red Devils in the future.
Last year, Lacey signed his first professional contract with the club, marking a significant milestone in his career. The youngster committed to the Red Devils on a long-term basis through a five-year contract.
Academy players are allowed to sign their first professional contract when they turn 17, and Manchester United then moved quickly to tie Lacey down shortly after his birthday.
