Early this morning in the final of the FIFA Club World Cup 2025, PSG unexpectedly lost 0-3 to Chelsea. One of the most controversial images left by the reigning Champions League champion was Enrique's action of seemingly slapping Joao Pedro of the English team.
This situation happened when the referee blew the final whistle. At that time, for unknown reasons, Joao Pedro approached and showed his attitude towards coach Luis Enrique.
In a fit of anger, the PSG coach suddenly reacted violently by slapping Pedro in the face. And things escalated from there. A big fight broke out between the players of the two teams. Gianluigi Donnarumma approached Pedro, pushing his opponent to the ground. The Chelsea striker's teammates joined in, turning the field into a brawl. Coach Enzo Maresca quickly intervened, trying to pull his players away from the brawl.

In the post-match press conference, coach Luis Enrique explained his actions. He did not think he hit his opponent, but only tried to control his temper.
"I tried to stop my players from fighting so that it would go further. I'm sure of that. There were a lot of fights," he stressed.
“My only intention was to stop the players from fighting. It was very tense, they were pushing each other. I don’t care if people like it or not, but that’s the reality.”
The Spanish coach even suggested that Chelsea coach Enzo Maresca was also involved in the fight. “I saw Maresca being pushed and then he pushed someone else! It was clear that our coaches’ intention was just to stop the players,” Enrique said.
