Coach Mai Duc Chung and midfielder Bich Thuy both expressed regret after the loss.

Despite their best efforts to attack, the Vietnamese girls could only score a goal from Bich Thuy in the 88th minute, thus having to accept a 1-2 loss.

Speaking at the post-match press conference, coach Mai Duc Chung said: “On behalf of the Vietnamese women’s team, I would like to thank fans nationwide and Hai Phong in particular for cheering for us.

It was an exciting, spirited game. It’s been a long time since I’ve been in an atmosphere like this. The team put in a lot of effort, especially in the second half.”

Losing in the semi-finals, the Vietnamese women's team will compete for the bronze medal with the Thai women's team, an opponent we won by a narrow margin in the group stage.

A large number of fans came to Lach Tray Stadium to "support" their team.

“After the semi-final match did not have good results, we encouraged each other to try our best to win the bronze medal.

Thailand is an opponent that Vietnam understands well, so the whole team needs to play tightly and enter the game well to win," coach Mai Duc Chung expressed his determination.

Meanwhile, midfielder Bich Thuy, who scored the only goal for the team, expressed: I would like to thank everyone for encouraging the players. Right now, the whole team is very sad because we did not play a good match.

We didn't start well, the coach reminded us a lot. Personally, I will regain my spirit for the final match to win the bronze medal."

On August 19, the Vietnamese women's team will compete for third place against Thailand. Meanwhile, Australia will play the final against Myanmar.
