After the match, coach Mai Duc Chung regretfully said: “We tried our best against U23 Australia, especially in the second half. However, the Vietnamese women's football team still could not avoid defeat.”

“In the last match, we did not do well. In the next match, the Vietnamese women's team will compete with Thailand for third place, we must do better. Thailand is an opponent that we understand very well, so the whole team must play tightly, must enter the game better to be able to win,” added coach Mai Duc Chung.

Once again, the Hai Phong crowd was fantastic. Fans came in large numbers to Lach Tray Stadium to cheer on the girls. Coach Mai Duc Chung really appreciated the crowd’s love for his team.

The veteran coach shared: “Once again, I would like to thank the fans for supporting us. Playing with the enthusiastic support of the fans, we always have more motivation.”

Regarding the Australian women's U23 team, coach Joe Palatsides said: "This was a very good match. We played well in the first half, creating scoring opportunities. It was not easy to overcome the defense of the Vietnamese women's football team."

“The Vietnamese women’s football team played very resiliently, and the enthusiastic cheering of the audience helped the Vietnamese girls become stronger. This was a very difficult victory for the Australian U23 women’s team. I always tell my players to play with focus.

Especially in the second half, the Vietnamese women's football team played well, my players had to work very hard to stand firm," coach Joe Palatsides affirmed.

After passing the semi-finals, U23 Australia will meet Myanmar at 8pm on August 19. Before that, at 4:30pm, the Vietnamese women's football team will face Thailand in the third-place match. Both matches will take place at Lach Tray Stadium.
