Lao Cai destroys more than 10 tons of smuggled frozen food

On the afternoon of August 17, Lao Cai International Border Gate Customs presided over and coordinated the destruction of more than 10 tons of frozen food smuggled from China to Vietnam, including Chinese sausage, pork brain, and young chicken eggs. The total value of the frozen food destroyed was nearly 950 million VND.

The destruction process is carried out under the close supervision of the authorities, by burial method, using excavators to dig deep holes, ensuring compliance with environmental protection regulations.

Previously, on the evening of August 16, the Working Group of Lao Cai International Border Gate Customs, while patrolling and controlling imported goods at Lao Cai International Border Gate, discovered 86 foam boxes and 120 pineapple sacks hidden in various places in the flower garden area of ​​the quarantine area.

All frozen foods are put into a deep pit and then sprinkled with lime powder...

At the time of discovery, the patrol team called and asked people around to identify the owner and manager of the above goods, however, no organization or individual came to receive them.

The destruction is carried out under the close supervision of the authorities.

Through inspection, it was discovered that the goods were of unknown origin, the bags containing the goods were all printed with foreign words, including: 7,001 kg of Chinese sausage, 2,578 kg of young chicken eggs, 750 kg of pork brain.

The working group determined that the above goods are not on the list of goods allowed to be exchanged by border residents, but are conditionally imported goods (must be quarantined for animals upon import), therefore, the Customs authority has made a record of certification and a record of temporary detention for handling according to the provisions of law.
