The stage, which is more than 4,000 square meters wide, is completed with LED blocks simulating the majestic Hoang Lien Son range, terraced fields and the image of the softly winding Red River. In this space, the art program "Where the Red River flows into Vietnam" will officially take place, opening the Red River Festival - Lao Cai 2025.
Sharing about the program's idea, General Director Le Duy Hung Thinh said that the starting point of the script is Lung Po - where the Red River touches Vietnamese territory.
“From its source, the river not only carries alluvium but also the memories of thousands of years of culture. We want to tell that story in the language of modern art, so that the river becomes the subject that guides the audience through each chapter,” said Mr. Thinh.
The art program includes 3 chapters: Legendary Origin; Heritage Flow and River of Aspiration, which will recreate the cultural journey of the Red River from Lung Po, through the land of Hung Kings, Thang Long Citadel and out to the sea.
The first two chapters are imbued with traditional colors, with dances, folk melodies and typical costumes of ethnic groups along the banks of the Red River, creating a multi-layered cultural picture.
Chapter 3 shows the modern life of Lao Cai through images of high-speed railways, airports, new urban areas...
The highlight is the segment "Friendship Bridge" with a mashup of Vietnam - China and Vietnamese will, bringing together all artists and actors symbolizing the spirit of solidarity and aspiration to rise of the borderland.
The art program has the participation of many famous artists, such as: Tung Duong, To Hoa, Khac Hieu, Minh Quan, Thu Thuy, Tuan Ngoc, Ngoc Chinh (Ram C), Thanh An; actors from Vietnam Contemporary Arts Theater, Vietnam Dance Academy and nearly 1,000 artists and actors from Lao Cai.
The combination of famous artists and local art forces promises to bring a program with depth and identity.
People's Artist Huu Tu - General Choreographer of the program said: "The uniqueness of the program lies in the language of contemporary folk dance, promoting the cultural characteristics of Lao Cai ethnic groups to create dances with a new breath. We wish to promote the cultural beauty and people of Lao Cai to domestic and international friends."
Although the program has not officially taken place, in recent days, Nam Cuong Square has always attracted people to watch the preliminary and final rehearsals, adding to the excitement before the opening ceremony.
Mr. Nguyen Thanh Nghi in Cam Duong ward shared: “The program is very grand, carrying many meanings about the river and people of Lao Cai. The sound and light are harmonious and pleasing to the eye, I will definitely come to watch the official performance.”
The message that the Red River - Lao Cai Festival 2025 aims for is connection: Connection between nations, between tradition and modernity, between Vietnam and international friends through the river of culture and friendship.
With elaborate investment, large scale and artistic depth, the art program "Where the Red River flows into Vietnam" is expected to become the most outstanding highlight of this year's festival.
The opening night took place at 8:00 p.m. on November 19, broadcast live on Lao Cai Television channel and digital platforms of Lao Cai Provincial Newspaper, Radio and Television.
