Coach Roland confides
Vietnam U.17 has ended the group stage of the 2025 AFC U.17 Championship with 3 draws with the same score of 1-1 against Australia U.17, Japan U.17 and UAE U.17. The most regrettable of which was the draw with UAE U.17 in the final round. Coach Cristiano Roland and his team led their opponents until the last minutes and temporarily took the top spot in the group. However, a late goal caused the team to fall to the bottom of the table and had to stop playing early.
Sharing after the tournament, coach Roland said that regardless of the result, he and his students tried very hard.

"As head coach, my heart is filled with pride for these young warriors. The resilience, dedication and focus they have shown throughout this journey is truly admirable. They have fought tirelessly, with passion and determination, for the dream of bringing Vietnam to the U.17 World Cup," Mr. Roland shared.
The progress of U.17 Vietnam is shown with 10 unbeaten matches. Despite facing very strong teams such as Japan, Australia, Oman or Uzbekistan, Viet Anh and his teammates were not defeated. That is the support for the players to strive to grow even more in the future. The journey of U.17 Asia 2025 has ended unfinished, but believe that when tomorrow comes, another door will open for Coach Roland and his students.
"It is sad not to have achieved the target after three great matches against U.17 Australia, U.17 Japan and U.17 UAE. However, this sadness does not overshadow the brilliance of what they have conquered. I am extremely grateful to each of them, and all my colleagues, for the efforts, dedication and passion they have shown at every step of this journey," coach Roland emphasized.
'The future of Vietnamese football'
Coach Roland also affirmed that the U.17 players deserve to be the future of Vietnamese football, with the potential they have revealed.
"These warriors are the future of Vietnamese football. I believe that with the talent and determination they possess, they will achieve great things in the future. I sincerely thank Vietnamese fans for their unconditional support. Your messages of encouragement and love are essential for our journey," said Mr. Roland.
With the improvement achieved with the U.17 Vietnam team, it is likely that Mr. Roland will continue to be appointed as the head coach of the U.17 team, or join this team as the head coach of the U.19 Vietnam team after 1 year, to conquer the U.19 Asia qualifiers.
Mr. Roland's future will be discussed by the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) in the coming time.
