After many years of working in the highland medical field, Mr. Chien understands the difficulties of the people when they are sick. In previous years, he still had a medicine bag so that every time he went to the village, he could give them medicine when they were sick or had common diseases. However, this year, Mr. Chien has not received a medicine bag.
Mr. HOANG VAN CHIEN, Population Collaborator of Pang Sang Village, Chieng Kheo Commune, Mai Son District, Son La Province: “The medicine bag is equipped with only common medicines, I also went to propagate, the people are in difficulty, their houses are far from the Station. Now there is no medicine bag, I go up but I don't know what to do, I can only propagate for them to go to the Station"
Currently, the province has 1,286 extremely disadvantaged villages. After 15 years of implementation, the policy of supporting medical kits for villages has been effective, basically ensuring timely support and provision of medicine and medical supplies for first aid and initial treatment for people in extremely disadvantaged villages, especially those living far from medical facilities, meeting the essential needs of people when they get sick. At the 20th thematic session, the Provincial People's Council voted to pass a new resolution to increase the level of support for buying medicine kits, accordingly, villages with more than 150 households will be supported with medicine kits worth 3.5 million VND/village/year; villages with from 100 to 150 households will be supported with 3 million VND/village/year; villages with 50 to 100 households will be supported with 2.5 million VND/village/year; villages with less than 50 households will be supported with 2 million VND/village/year. However, up to now, medical stations in Son La province still do not have this source of support medicine.
Ms. NGUYEN THI HA, Head of Chieng Kheo Commune Health Station, Mai Son District, Son La Province: “In 2023, Chieng Kheo Commune Health Station received 5 medicine bags for 3 extremely difficult villages to distribute to its people. In 2024, we have not received any medicine bags. The reason is that the Health Center also reported that the medicine source has not been provided. When the medicine source arrives, the Health Center will notify the Station to get it to distribute to medical collaborators.”
Currently, the funding has been allocated to localities. However, due to problems in bidding, medical centers have not received the medicine.
Mr. NGUYEN VAN THUAN, Deputy Director of Moc Chau District Medical Center, Son La Province: “ Up to now, the Provincial People's Council has also arranged funding to bid for the purchase of medical supplies for particularly difficult villages. However, up to this point, it has not been implemented. Due to difficulties and obstacles in bidding. The value of the bidding package is very small. Although the bidding has been opened, no unit has come to supply medicine, so it is very difficult”.
After 15 years of implementing the policy of providing medical kits to especially disadvantaged villages and hamlets in the province, medicines and first aid supplies have been promptly provided to people in the villages, especially those in areas far from medical facilities, basically meeting the initial medical needs of the people. Currently, the extremely disadvantaged villages and hamlets hope that the authorities will focus on removing difficulties in bidding and soon equipping the villages with medicine kits./.
