Learning to compromise isn't difficult.

Ho Nguyen Nhu Quynh (a student at the University of Economics and Finance Ho Chi Minh City) was introduced to English thanks to her parents' guidance from a young age. Starting with an enhanced English program in primary school, Nhu Quynh successively conquered most English proficiency exams and achieved an IELTS score of 6.5 at the end of 12th grade.

Nhu Quynh's passion for music effectively supports her foreign language learning.

Achieving her IELTS goal before university admissions was a plan that Quỳnh's family had carefully prepared for her. Quỳnh's father worked at a university that offered test preparation classes, so he enrolled her in the same classes as the older students. Quỳnh recalled, "I was the youngest in the class. For two years, after school at high school, I rushed there twice a week to study English until late at night."

Với Như Quỳnh, chủ động trong học tập sẽ mang đến niềm vui, thúc đẩy ta không ngừng tiến về phía trước

For Nhu Quynh, being proactive in learning brings joy and motivates us to constantly move forward.

Everything went smoothly, but Quynh's mindset towards learning English wasn't comfortable. She recognized the benefits and opportunities of having a good foreign language, but with her free-spirited and creative personality, she still wanted to break free from pre-determined boundaries. Instead of passively accepting what was planned, Quynh chose to embrace the language more actively, reconnecting with music – a long-standing passion. Quynh knows and enjoys playing the piano, loves singing and dancing, and listens more to English music. She studies English music theory, watches reaction videos to gain more analytical insights and perspectives on songs… Finding this very smooth intersection between language and music made her English learning journey even more engaging. From this point of connection, Quynh also developed a passion for Korean. She shared: "I like K-pop, I like the music of my idols, so I'm learning the language to better understand the products I listen to." Currently, Quỳnh's Korean is at a basic level, and the Gen Z girl has planned to focus on improving her skills and preparing for the TOPIK certification exam in the near future.

Quynh is not alone; many of her peers also receive early guidance and direction from adults regarding their academic and personal development paths. Some adapt and thrive on this predetermined path, while others feel a loss of comfort and struggle to achieve optimal results.

Như Quỳnh hopes that young people, especially her younger sister, will always maintain a spirit of exploration and learning. Whether or not they are given favorable conditions, proactiveness is the crucial factor in gaining valuable experiences during the process of accumulating knowledge and growing.
