Mai Thi Ha, the principal of Quyet Thang Junior High School (Trung Dung ward, Bien Hoa city), said that these days, both teachers and students at the school are eagerly looking forward to the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of Southern Vietnam and the reunification of the country. The atmosphere of the anniversary is drawing near, as each day they witness many aircraft training in the sky.
Proud of the month of April
Ms. Ha said emotionally, "In recent days, helicopters carrying Party flags and national flags have been flying overhead, further boosting the patriotic spirit and national pride of teachers and students. Whenever a helicopter flies overhead in the early morning or during recess, the students cheer and wave proudly."
Le Thi Thu Thuy, a student from Le Quy Don Primary, Secondary, and High School (Bien Hoa City), shared that she was recently fortunate to be selected as one of 50 students from her school to welcome military officers and soldiers arriving in Bien Hoa City for training in preparation for the parade. Initially, she was a little nervous, but as soon as the train pulled into the station and the soldiers disembarked with friendliness and approachability, she quickly blended into the atmosphere of the military contingent. Despite the hot weather, she helped many female soldiers carry their personal belongings to the vehicles to return to their unit. After each assistance, the female soldiers shook her hand and happily thanked her, leaving her deeply moved.
Meanwhile, Huynh Bao Quoc, a student at Ngo Quyen High School (Bien Hoa City), said: “These days, we students are looking forward to the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and the reunification of the country with great pride and excitement. When we welcomed the soldiers to Bien Hoa, I felt my patriotism and national pride multiplied many times over.”
LE THI THU THAO, a student at Nam Ha High School (Bien Hoa City):
Proud of our country's glorious history.
I feel fortunate and happy that the previous generation fought so that we could have a peaceful life and a country that is developing like it is today. The April 30th anniversary is a meaningful opportunity for us to remember the contributions of our forefathers and to cherish the value of peace even more.
Cultivating patriotism
Lieutenant Pham Thanh Phuong, from the Engineering Corps, was deeply moved by the affection shown by the people of Bien Hoa City to him and his comrades, especially the students. Lieutenant Pham Thanh Phuong shared: “We traveled a long distance to Bien Hoa Station in the sweltering weather, but we were touched to see the students rushing towards us to shake hands and greet us. What moved me most was seeing us transporting equipment and supplies for the parade; many male students volunteered to help load them onto the vehicles. We were worried about their hard work, but they did a great job, and thanks to them, the transportation of equipment and supplies was completed earlier than expected.”
Not only students, but many parents also view the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of Southern Vietnam and the reunification of the country as a precious opportunity to educate their children about the value of peace. Ms. Dang Thi Ngoc Ha, a parent with a child attending Trinh Hoai Duc Primary School (Bien Hoa City), recounted: “My family lives near the gate of the 935th Division barracks, so these days there is a bustling flow of vehicles carrying soldiers and police officers entering and exiting for training and preparing for the parade. When my child sees the vehicles carrying soldiers and police officers entering and exiting the barracks, he runs out and waves. He is even happier when he receives waves back from the soldiers and police officers on the vehicles.”
Deputy Chief of the Office of the Department of Education and Training, Do Thanh Tam, happily stated that students have shown great interest in major historical events of the nation. For example, during the welcoming ceremony for the troops participating in the parade from the North who were gathering in Bien Hoa City for training, more than 1,700 students went to Bien Hoa Train Station and visited the units to greet them. This was a special opportunity to cultivate patriotism in students, helping them appreciate the values left behind by their ancestors.
