According to the guidance of the Hanoi Departmentof Education and Training on organizing the high school graduation exam in 2025, students completing general education and continuing education programs in the 2024-2025 school year in the city must register to take the exam at the school where they studied grade 12.

Candidates who have not graduated from high school in previous years must also register to take the exam at the school where they studied grade 12. In special cases, they can register to take the exam at the high school in the district, town or city where they reside (according to the confirmation of residence from the People's Committee of the commune level) or the high school in the area where they work if the candidate is on a business trip far away and has sufficient grounds for not being able to take the exam at the place of residence or the place of study of grade 12.

Candidates studying in the continuing education program are only allowed to register for the exam at vocational education and continuing education centers. Candidates studying in the general education program are only allowed to register for the exam at high schools.

Candidates completing general education and continuing education programs in the 2024-2025 school year must take exams in literature, mathematics and 2 elective subjects from the subjects studied in grade 12, including: Physics, chemistry, biology, history and geography, economic and legal education, information technology, industrial technology, agricultural technology, and foreign languages.

Candidates who have completed general education and continuing education programs before 2025 but have not graduated will take 4 exams, including 3 independent exams in math, literature, foreign language and 1 optional exam from two combined exams in natural sciences or social sciences.
