Students temporarily off from August 25 to avoid storm Kajiki

(Dan Tri) - Due to the complicated developments of storm Kajiki (storm No. 5), the Department of Education of Quang Tri province decided to temporarily suspend school for all students in the area to ensure safety.

On August 24, according to information from the Department of Education and Training of Quang Tri, in order to ensure the safety of students in the face of the complicated developments of storm Kajiki, the Department has announced that students at schools and educational institutions will temporarily close.

All students in Quang Tri province will be off school from August 25 until the weather returns to normal.

The Quang Tri Department of Education and Training also requires educational institutions to brace classrooms and glass doors; store equipment and records in safe places; and arrange staff and teachers to be on duty 24/7 to promptly handle arising situations.

Depending on the specific situation, heads of units and schools in Quang Tri can adjust the plan to gather students at the beginning of the year, temporarily suspend non-urgent meetings, conferences and training sessions to focus on storm and flood prevention work.

According to Dan Tri reporter, from the night of August 24 to the early morning of August 25, storm No. 5 caused rain in many localities in Quang Tri, especially the northern part of the province.

The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting said that at 6 p.m. on August 24, storm Kajiki (storm No. 5) had strengthened to level 14 (150-166 km/h), gusting to level 17, about 435 km from Nghe An, about 410 km east-southeast of Ha Tinh , and about 360 km east of North Quang Tri.

Forecast in the next 3 hours, the storm continues to move in the West Northwest direction at a speed of about 15km/h.

According to forecasts, at around 4am on August 25, the storm will enter the southern area of ​​the Gulf of Tonkin, 240km from Nghe An, 210km from Ha Tinh, and 140km from northern Quang Tri.

By 4 p.m. on August 25, the storm was active on land from Thanh Hoa to Quang Tri, its intensity reduced to level 11-12, gusting to 14. On August 26, the storm moved to Central Laos and weakened rapidly.

The hydrometeorological agency said some scenarios show the storm could reach level 15, but this scenario is not high.
